"Vardy's on fire, your defence is terrified!" "Jamie Vardy's 'avin a party!"

Leicester City and England supporters are used to singing Jamie Vardy's name, but now a group of football fans from his home city of Sheffield have combined the two for a charity World Cup single.

There is no official Enland song for Russia 2018 so The S6, a group of friends, have recorded ‘Vardy’s on Fire’ with all proceeds going to The Offside Trust, a charity dedicated to helping safeguard children in sport.

Most football fans will be familiar with the song, an adaptation of ‘Freed from Desire’ by Gala, which was initially used by Wigan and Northern Ireland fans about striker Will Grigg.

 

 

 

England fans also adopted the tune at Euro 2016 to sing about Vardy, but now it has been recorded to try to help fire the Three Lions to victory in Russia as well as raise funds for charity.

‘Vardy’s on Fire’ is available to download on Monday, June 18 which is the day England open their Group G campaign against Tunisia.

Vardy is out in Russia as part of Gareth Southgate’s squad but is not expected to start on Monday night.

How ironic that the song is all about Vardy when we know he'll likely spend most of the World Cup on the bench.

Rip off of a song about a guy who got zero minutes for Northern Ireland in Euro 2016 so this is probably a pretty apt song to cover
