I'm more worried by Silvas continued lack of form than by 1 avg game by Pereira, Patience with Silva is starting to wear thin.

Silva was decent last night and very good in the game before that.

He was awful and the game passed him by. Has so little pace or strength and his end product is very poor. That is why he was hooked off after an hour

Just your opinion.

Honestly if his name was Adrian Sellers nobody on this forum would rate him. Don't see how he's any better than Andy King.

He passes forward for one

Andy King scores goals, puts in a good challenge and keeps possession.  Silva lets the game pass him by, rarely scores and usually passes sideways.

Andy King has scored 8 goals in 90ish premier league appearances, that's incredibly poor for someone who 'scores goals'. Adrien Silva also makes more tackles per 90 mins you moron lol  At least silva tries to make things happen, gets on the ball etc rather than hiding all the time.

I do not understand your point?

King is king and silva is silva.  Andy has always tried his best for us.... he's getting on and we want to be top 6...but it was good while it lasted.

Puel needs to make sense of silva...  Silva needs to put the effort in to adapt to the pl...even after 4mths to prepare he wasnt ready.  This is a defining season for him now

I get what you’re saying, but we will need someone to sit and shield the defence, if we’re playing with attacking full backs. Otherwise we will be countered on too easily. The best options are Ndidi or Choudhury, as Iborra is too slow covering ground and Silva/James aren’t DM’s.

Come to think of it, Choudhury seems the most natural player for that role as he likes to sit deep, but I cant see both him and Ndidi starting.

Also Maddison is a Number 10 i think, so its doubtful he will be considered at CM.

James is definitely a defensive midfielder,  where else would you play him?  I'd also go as far to suggest that Puel preferred him to Iborra when fit. If a Puel 4 2 3 1, I'd suggest in the two he would play James and Ndidi with James being able to afford Ndidi a bit of licence in movement. Choudhury could also be a consideration. Iborra for me is not worthy of a place.

All serious Silva does look a bit lightweight in his overall play but he is always looking for the ball and the tempo of his play is good rarely gives the ball away but doesn't play the difficult ball very safe player which we probably need one of

Were people not at least quite encouraged by the positions Ricardo got into? We've not had a right back doing that for years.

?    hiding all the time. Andy King scored as many goals last season as Silva!!! Just saying.

Can't be too harsh on the 2 lads over last night. Neither was that effective but Portugal weren't great. They were one of the luckiest international sides in history to win Euro 2016.

Pereira was thrown to the wolves a bit. Suarez and Cavani would put the frighteners in any defence and Uruguay were well worth their win.

We'll need a new dynamic without Mahrez and Perreira will provide that I hope.

Anyways you could point to the performance of Musa as not to read too much into the World Cup.

Thought Ricardo had a decent game overall.  Couple of off moments but overall really encouraged.

Silva on the other hand wasn’t as impressive.  I chalked his constantly getting caught in possession or being muscled off the ball down to him not playing for a couple of months.  He doesn’t have that excuse now.  Anything other than a short 5-10 yard pass and he really seems to struggle.  I’d go as far to say that he appears to be fvcking crap.

1st start for Pereira and 2nd for Silva with Silva having his season badly disrupted by an incident that had nothing to do with him surprisingly the football authorities deemed his Crime more severe than the racist Saurez who received a shorter ban for his 3rd biting incident. They both need a pre-season to gel with the rest of our squad and how we set up. Silva played in a different role to what he plays here and Pereira though caught out for their 2nd got up and down the line nicely against a side happy to park the bus. So lets at least give them a pre-season we are becoming a caricature of some clubs fans we are happy to mock. 10 years ado we were playing 2 divisions lower with Marc Edworthy and Kerrea Gilbert playing in Pereira's position and a very young Andy King and Matt Oakley in midfield. We have come on so much and expectations has risen so much but at least let them pull our shirt on before calling for them to be shown the door

Neither did Gilbert and Oakley etc cost the best part of 50m! Stunning money for at least in Silva 's case, mediocrity. Perriera we'll just have to wait and see.

Income has probably risen a tad since then so the money paid for the Gilberts,Oakleys and Clemences of this world is probably in proportion. Silva had the season from hell so fingers crossed he turns it around
