Brazilian flair died in 1982 at the hands of Paolo Rossi. That one really hurt them. It's been nothing but pragmatism ever since.

Glad I continued to read the thread. Was about to post exactly the same thing.1982, wonderful to watch, all out attack, achieved nothing in the end. Such a shame as they were a joy to watch.

They were Barry White by 1990 and these days, Neymar is a total Chris Brunt.

Just got in from work and saw Neymar's antics on Twitter.

Wow.

The treading was a foul, but he is a cheating little shite.

How can any ref believe him ever again when he goes down, apparently injured ?

Scored a tap in, laid up an assist for another tap in and as that evidently didn't satisfy his pathological need for attention decided to engage in some of his patented theatrics.

it’s neymars world and we’re all just living in it. absolute don that guy.

Here's your attention - he's good but not amongst the elite today. If he wasn't so 'marketable' no way would he have commanded the fees and moves he did, much like James Rodríguez

Really? Hard not to let the pathetic play acting detract from his actual play, but when on song he is absolutely superb. If he's not an elite player who is?

To name a few I'd rate higher, Obviously Ronaldo and Messi. Then you have the likes of Modric, Godín, Suarez, Busquets, De Bruyne, Aguero, Kroos who I think are world class. Neymar is for me in a category below with the likes of Mané, Marcelo, De Gea, Muller, Kompany, Robben who are stand out but not elite because their games have shortcomings and not consistent enough

Neymar is world class. Yes he play acts, but why was the Mexican stand anywhere near him anyway? he was just trying to do the sly stamp on someone pretend not to know what he was doing thing.

So it was rubbish from both of them but needless from the Mexican too.

Secondly, whats the point in comparing Neymar to Busquets and Godin in a so called "level below"? they have completely different roles on the field, at least compare apples to apples.

There arent many, if any left sided inside forwards that are on Neymars level, diving or not.

Brazil have the complete package too, enough creativity to score goals, mixed with solidarity at the back.

And Kitchandro, youre a salad. Not everyone hates Brazil, you just happen to hate everything, thats your issue.

No way is he a better player than someone like Kevin De Bruyne or Luka Modric! Sorry but I fail to see what is elite about Neymars football other than the time he spends thinking about his hair and his diving ability.

Neymar is a fantastic talent and for me the best player at the World Cup but his antics are really pissing me off

Brazil are known for flair and quality not diving and rolling around

pathetic Delli Ali style cheating
