Just thought maybe a thread about players youve seen and were not familiar with, but made an impression on you would be good.

I thought before the tournament started Hirving Lozano would catch the eye and he put in some exciting performances for Mexico.

Wilmar Barrios looks like a good player. Seems to have a touch of the Kante's about him, i think he will come over to Europe very soon and fit in most likely in Spain.

Luis Advincula looked like a real athlete at right back too for Peru. Very impressed with how he linked up with Carrillo down the right side and if he could improve his end product, he would be Cafu-esque in his style of play. Probably unlikely though as hes 28 I believe.

Diego Laxalt and Juan Fernando Quintero are the two who spring to mind. Quintero was excellent in 2014 as well but seems to have had a pretty forgettable four years at club level, only to return and look that same quality little player of the last World Cup. Laxalt probably the unsung hero of this Uruguay side.

Been their unsung hero in my eyes. They've got arguably the best centre half pairing and striker pairing in the competition, but he's been every bit as important. Really impressed by him so far.

Agree 100% on Laxalt been an excellent player and unsung member of the side.

Plays with maturity and has an all round game, a good athlete who can pass and deliver, picks his moments when to tackle, had an excellent tournament

Golovin from Russia & Yussuf ‘Yurary’ Poulsen from Denmark have looked pretty decent.

 

Also, Lucas Torreira from Uruguay but it looks as if he’s pretty close to moving to Arsenal.

If we hadn't signed Pereira I'd want us to try and sign Advincula. As said above he's impressed me with his work rate and defensive attributes as well as supporting attacks. 

 

I've also liked Lozano for Mexico. Hadn't seen him much for PSV but there's strong links he'll move to a top club this summer.

 

Inui for Japan has been really good too. Shame we won't see any more of him this tournament.

Mbappe obviously is a star, and for me a near guarantee to win a Ballon Dor, but he's too well known for this thread I reckon.
