Here's his youtube clips.

Some Ndidi/Octupus like tackling and he's sharp, especially first 10 yards. Looks like a proper PITA to play against.

There's a lot of him 'getting him front of his man and winning it' bits it in there. Which is great, as long as there aren't a lot of 'getting in front his man and being turned' bits we're not seeing.

Likewise, a notable lack of shots of him passing/taking it out of defence.

5ft 10inch CB?

Yeah that should help our weakness at defending set pieces.

Fabio Cannavaro is 5ft 9.

9/10 the issue with conceding from set pieces is the lack of marking/ proper set up rather than just who’s tallest.

Nailed on though, as soon as we concede our first goal, with him in the team, his height will be the scapegoat reason.

Getafe conceded just 33 goals/38 games in La Liga last season, Barca 29 and Real 44 - that’s insane levels.

Djene is short (around 5’9/5’10) though but he’s Kante like in terms of tackling ability, with his lack of height he’d be ideal ‘cleaning up’ in a back 3, in a back 2 there is always the risk of getting beaten from crosses.

If I had a pound for each time someone mentioned Cannavaro in a height related centre back discussion.....,

i’d have about three quid, I reckon

I admit, it’s a bit of a one off example. However I do think that sometimes people just assume cause someone is tall they will be good in the air, clearing crosses and scoring headers etc. Just doesn’t always work that way. Reading of the game is paramount as a defender IMO.

Sounds like a kind of Kyle Walker type role for England, and he is 5' 10'' and impressed at the World Cup. Perisic's goal wasn't a height issue either, just that Perisic is a beast, as further exemplified in the final.
