Reports in Spain claim we've offered €26m with Sevilla also interested.

That report also states that he has asked Getafe to ignore offers from outside Spain, as he wants to stay in La Liga

£31m for a not-so-tall centre-back from a mediocre La Liga side. :nigel:

I know he has his qualities and was voted in the Team Of The Year, but still...

That's pure filth.

In a year or so, I'll purposefully cover the first number before the comma in any transfer fee mentioned in order to feel more at ease with the modern-day transfer fee frenzy.

Did Rudders call Getafe and say I am going to e-mail you later with an offer?  'about to offer'????

He's a demon on the desk when it comes to tackles, clearance and interceptions, but poor at passing and poor at heading.

I prefer my centre backs masssssshoooof.

Maguire will be going then surely if this is true?

just because we are bidding for another defender?

doesnt mean we are selling Maguire..........be like saying Liverpool are selling Salah because theyve signed Shaqiri

Maybe, maybe not... another CB was on my ideal scenario list as one injury to Evans and Maguire and we're back to Wes or Benny again. They are both last resorts for me now.

Yes but expectations are different with Leicester, quite clearly

Seems a hefty fee for a back up?

That doesn't seem to bother us given what we paid for Ward.

My main issue is why we're prioritising bringing in back up players over much pressing areas of the team such as out wide. Strange and bloody irritating.

We've paid about £100m on backup strikers :D

Could be the fabled 3 at the back.

Could be Maguire going.

Could be a load of bollocks.

Who knows!

Ric, I love you man.... but just because you sign a GK or a CB before a winger doesn't mean you made one a priority over the other. It could be that one deal was easier to do than the other, or loads of other perfectly acceptable reasons.

Cheer up, have a beer and walk about from Foxestalk for a while. lol

Assume given your comments on money that we're about to see a fair few shifted to facilitate this?

Hahahaa I know mate, a little piece of me dies inside every time I repeat this drivel about replacing Mahrez. I can't let it go and I'm not even sure i'll be content when it happens. I'll move on to something else, it's probably why I pick bits of skin round my thumbs. I'm a restless, miserable man.

Azpilicueta is probably the best centre half in the league and he's about 5 foot 7.

Not sure he's ever played in a back 4 though. Unless we are going 3 atb
