Yeah I agree with that just rich talking about the gulf in class when he put out more of a p1ss take team than we did.  I think maybe I just think he is a massive nob in general so it clouds my vision, haha.

The gulf in class would have been there whichever XI he put out.

Interesting that you think he's a nob - I'm not going to tell you you're wrong, but that's a good example of how perceptions of people/players works. That is, people make/made a judgement of a player (an example of yore would be Oldfield), and then everything he did was seen through a prism of that judgement. So he could be MOTM, but some people would only notice the few errors that he made.

Not really. It's because he has been an utter nob.

Yeah I agree there would have been a gulf in class it more just slightly grates that you can take the mickey out of a competition by making 11 changes then, albeit indirectly, bemoan the resources at your disposal.  As I said I fully admit my viewpoint might be marred by the fact I already do not like him but, even objectively, they really didn't go for it at any point.

Regarding Barton more generally, I think it is the faux intellectualism, overly aggressive playing style, self -righteousness (I say this fully aware of the hypocrisy that I can be self-righteous at times but often we dislike in others what we see in ourselves) and "I am pals with Morrissey and Ricky Hatton" (two folk I am not overly keen on) that annoys me.  He may very well be a decent bloke but I think he gets caught up in his own hype sometimes and seems to play the victim more than Tommy Robinson (I am in no way comparing the two in any other way obviously, I actually believe Barton is on the left in terms of politics).  X

Who amongst us hasn't been? But my point about perceptions of players still stands.

Not sure I agree with it though. I could see when Barton had a good game or played a good pass. The perception of him comes from a long line of misdemeanours and, frankly, ridiculous incidents he was involved with down the years. If you continually act like a nob (to use Rumble's original wording), then you'll be looked on as a nob. He had plenty of opportunities and managed to feck most of them up. Maybe the penny finally has dropped and he'll turn out to be a very considered manager. Time will tell.

you can tell he worked for Shaun moneybags dyche

Did the money that we have in the bank stop his players from bothering defending from the second half kick off? Or did our financial clout physically stop his keeper coming off the line when Nacho was through on goal?

Lazy excuse. Don't make 11 changes then whinge about money when you get a spanking.

I was using the perception of someone such as Barton to try and make a wider point. I guess the issue of perception is just interesting to me. Someone once said that Pat Nevin became a much better footballer once it became known that he read highbrow literature...

I'm no great lover of Barton either, before anyone draws that conclusion.

Rubbish. He’s your hero isn’t he?

I do get your point. Some people have one incident which defines the how they are viewed and they can't shake it off, no matter what they do. It happens to footballers and people in every day life. My only point with Barton really is that it has happened regularly and may well continue to do so. Maybe not. Maybe management will be the making of the man.

Whatever line they picked it would have been worth less than our new keeper.

I don't even think it's an excuse, it's just fact.

What do you expect him to say?

"We defended horribly", "we made individual mistakes", "I made 11 changes becasue my Chairman and I weren't arsed about the game", would be a decent start.

They have no chance of winning the competition, they have 3 games in a week just like us, so made changes to protect their players for the league campaign.

He said the league was his priority.

What does a manager gain from slagging off his players after getting beat by a far superior team?

Agree that Fuchs looked good, still more than capable of stepping into our first team

Fuchs is another player who has been dismissed by the ‘Leicester Faithful’ :dunno: as being well over the hill.

He isn’t and could still play a role this season.

With Fleetwood making all those changes the result was never going to be in doubt. Fantastic goals by Fuchs and Ghazzel.  The match was just like a training session and we will see if any of the players have shown enough to get into the first team.

Fuchs can still do a job but can't get forget the 0-3 home loss to Manchester United in Ranieri's last season, Fuchs performance was a disgrace. Mkhitaryan never had an easier game in his life that day. His performances has gradually declined ever since.

I say this as Fuchs biggest fan. He is my favourite player of this era and the one I feel the most emotionally attached to.

Chilwell has looked good so far this season, he hasn't done anything wrong at all in the first three games.

I like Fuchs but his first team performances were declining. I think he's a good backup atm but have no doubt Chilwell should be our first choice left back now.

It's an education reading your posts Peaky. You keep chucking the odd subtle word or two in and I sometimes think you've made a spelling mistake or a typo. But when I look the word up I find it's correct and you've used it in the right context as always. :)

. They pressed us hard, and never stopped which is a sign of a decent team.

It’s a suicidal tactic against players capable of putting the ball behind your defence. Albrighton three times alone did the same trick.
