Considering that we'd made eight changes, that was a strong starting 11 for this stage of the cup.

Might be "easy" opposition but we steamrolled them. Brighton, Cardiff and Huddersfield are all out so there are banana skins even at this stage of the competition.

This is definitely the best squad we've ever had at the club. 8 changes from the last game, but put in a great performance and scored some absolute crackers. Good for some of the fringe players to get off the mark for the season too.

We have half a chance in this cup, so let's hope it's an exciting year.

Is the draw for the next round being done at 03:00 our time, in the Far East?

 

It only just occurred to me that they did a previous draw of the Carabao Cup at such an appalling hour, because the only way you could stay up would be to drink some rancid energy drink.  

 

No brands of energy drink spring to mind, though...

You have to appreciate the fact that this strong team featured only two current starters (if we're healthy) in Amartey and either Morgan or Evans, take your pick.

Not only that, but we played Amartey out of position, and I suspect both Morgan and Evans will be in a reserve roll once Söyüncü gets his feet under him. The depth we have at present is outrageous. I wonder how that side would do in the Prem -- I expect it would qualify for promotion in the Championship if Evans was simply not in game shape against Wolves, rather than being in serious decline. 

Interesting not to see Söyüncü get a run out, I know he's taken a place in the u-23s, but obv word was he was more game ready than Benkovic. Perhaps that was just the buzz because of how many elite teams were sniffing around him though, rather than anything based in fact. Would love to see one of the two show strong enough to replace the Evans/Morgan tandem by the midway point of the season, would love to see another future starter locked into the side, though I suppose we might need some veteran players on the pitch outside of Kasper and Vards to help the team crack the top-6. Have to wonder wtf we will do with this massive side if we don't send some of the lads out on loans or sell them though.
