2015/16 was a complete failure.

To constantly be a top 10 team, well away from relegation battles, whilst also fighting for 7th and Europe and pushing in both domestic cup competitions.

Will we get that every season for the next 10 years? Probably not. I'm realistic and know that we may struggle at times and get dragged into danger but that shouldn't stop us having these reasonable and realistic aims.

outside the top six we should be aiming to try and be best of the rest. we obviously would like to think we can finish in the europa League places but on doing that we need to be beating teams around us and lower and at least competing with the top teams.

For all those on here who made the journey to Bournemouth... how are you feeling?

Do you take it on the chin and simply say it’s an occupational hazard of being a fan who goes to away games, or are you pissed off with the team/manager?

I assume from about 30 mins in you prob thought wtf!?

Or are you not bothered?

I know when I used to go to away games the minimum I expected was a fookin good go at the opposition.

We can have all the expectations we want, but it really will come down to the owners and their long-term ambitions.

Obviously we need the right manager and players, but I think the biggest factor will be how much the owners are willing to spend.

So far, they have been very generous but that will have to continue if we want to be "best of the rest"

It's a sad truth, but heavy investment in the playing squad is still a huge factor in how a club does in the Premier League (on a consistent basis)

Investing in youth can aid us, but our success will still be mostly down to how much we can spend on bringing in the best players possible.

Presumably you considered the title winning season a failure then given we didn't beat Bournemouth in either game then. Dunno what it is about them but we never seem to beat them - Saturday was near enough exactly what would have happened if they could finish when we were there last season (well close, this season we at least managed some shots, let alone a goal or two)

Mid table is fine by me so long as we see a coherent plan and proper evolution into a sustainable team.

6th - we should win or draw against all clubs except the tops six - but this year arsenal.  Yes we should beat Bournemouth ... unless we are not of "6th quality"

8-14th. I think the owners are happy with mediocrity as long as we’re safe due to the training ground and stadium expansion investment.

“Cup run” or “cup final” is bullshit, we had “good cup runs” last season and most were unhappy with them. Only winning one matters

The cup runs were average. In both we only beat one Premier League side (admittedly a good one).

The away game issue has been around longer than this manager. It started at Liverpool two years ago, for over a year we gave everybody a tough game away from home (both defeats were narrow at Liverpool and Arsenal in the title winning year and we should've had a draw in the Arsenal match). Hull was awful but at Liverpool we barely looked bothered, then followed the absolute no-shows at Man United and Chelsea and from there we've had so many dismal away matches.

I had that nagging feeling I had back in April in all honesty. Embarrassed by the rubbish I'd just watched. Bournemouth fans must absolutely piss themselves about us.

It's all just a bit bland.

Do you think in hindsight we’ve had a good summer window? I didn’t at the time and I definitely don’t now,we haven’t fixed the defensive issues,We spent 40 million on reserve goalkeeper a guy to send out on loan and one who can’t make the bench. We don’t have enough strikers and too many midfielders. Even if he plays a 3 5 2 If one of our strikers gets injured we are left with Okazaki.Another botched window for me.

Valid points for sure.

I do still think we addressed our defensive issues and signed some good players though. I still think Evans was a good signing and will prove to be. I also think Pereira could be an excellent wingback, as well as Chilwell. Soyuncu is another signing I like and I expect him to do well once he gets games for us and settles.

I think the biggest issue right now, is the way Puel is setting us up to play. On paper, I think we have a very strong squad but that doesn't matter if the system doesn't play to your players' strengths, and worse, exposes their weaknesses!

I do agree on the striker front though, and was calling for us to sign another striker in the summer. Puel obviously had it in his mind that he would only ever play 1 striker, so I can see why he didn't sign one, but I strongly disagree with him.

It certainly leaves us a striker light to cover if we do switch to 2 upfront, but I still prefer that, than sticking with just Vardy and seeing him so isolated an ineffective in this system.

Change it to 3-5-2 now, and lets deal with any injuries or suspensions, if and when they occur. Then correct that mistake in January and bring a striker in.

I think the biggest disappointment of the window, was that Puel had a lot of money to spend, but has seemingly bought players that don't fit into his system and actually are much suited to another, which he seems either totally oblivious too or worse, is ignoring it.

yep nailed it,

Ricardo and Chilwell are definitely wing backs and are being played that now in the back 4 which is obvious to everyone but Puel, suicidal especially with the Maguire and Morgan pairing which is a disaster and has been since the start of last season.

I agree on Evans also I thought he was the replacement for Morgan not his back up.Puels only hammering nails into his own coffin, for me nothing has changed really since last season, we ll probably get the results against your Huddersfields and Cardiffs to keep us mid table which will keep him in his job longer.

It's frustrating because we really do have some good players in our squad, and it just feels like this is a wasted opportunity right now whilst we aren't playing to their strengths and trying to force them into a set system with no flexibility.

Chilwell/Pereira better as wingbacks

Maguire one of the best CBs in the World Cup in a three

Evans lack of pace less exposed in a three

Gets a very highly rated ball playing Soyuncu into the team

Vardy less isolated in a two

Gets another goal scorer in Iheanacho in the team

Arguable gets our best 11 players on the pitch

I know a formation change won't guarantee success, but when you break it down into pros and cons, it just makes a lot of sense right now.

Win a few games. Look like we know what we’re doing. Try not to concede in the first 20 odd minutes of games. Tighten up our defence. Finish in the top 10. It’s not actually a lot to ask.
