By no means are we too easy to play against. The Bournemouth game was a complete mess and showed our main weakness which was tweaked. But today we held our own and had enough chances to win, we were dominated when down to 10 and beaten by a beauty of a goal by Sigurdson.

The Bournemouth game was a shock to the system and it showed what pace can do against us, the partnership of King and Wilson have destroyed teams this season, see Watford today for example.

And yes we changed it and yes it worked; however Huddersfield and Newcastle didn't have the personnel to hurt us, Bournemouth went with pace, those two teams went with a target man and lacked blistering pace and quality from out wide.

Today we had our spells but Bernard and Richarlison in particular did cause us a lot of problems, they punished us more than once and if Everton's deliveries into the box were more accurate they could've had more. Not being able to handle pace is a cause for concern mate, we don't seem to have a solution to fix it.

After the international break we go to Arsenal with Jonny Evans potentially starting in defence, against the likes of Lacazette, Aubameyang and possibly Iwobi...

Soyuncu has been shit for the U23s. Morgan’s clearly uncomfortable stepping out and covering ground so after Bournemouth he shouldn’t have been back in the side. Morgan’s on the decline so he has to be significantly better than the other options in the short term to justify his selection, he isn’t. Evans, might not be comfortable either but he doesn’t make as many avoidable fouls.

What’s more frustrating is that we seem to make the same mistake multiple times before Puel does anything about it

We are too easy to play against. Too predictable. No plan b. Not astute or clever enough a lot of the time. Not utilising the squad enough. All adds up to inconsistent.

I agree we are too easy to play against. Far too soft defensively, too easy to get our players sent off, too easy to defend against.

We will be perennially inconsistent if we don't sort these things out.

I'm truly fed up of how many goals we concede that teams don't actually have to work for. Their first goal is ****ing awful. Couldn't believe MOTD "outstanding cross" lol are they for real, no attempt to stop the cross, Schmeichel all over the place and flaps it straight to Richarlison.

I can tolerate conceding goals like Sigurdsson's but the number of soft goals we concede really is a disgrace.

Did they create much from open play today? If we took our chances we'd have won.

They had eight shots on target, we had two.

They ran us ragged at times, we struggle against pace, simple as that.

Shots on target means sod all. Vardy had the best chance and put it wide. Amartey header, wide. Vardy header, wide.

Shots off target mean sod all either, they created more, they had chances, we had chances, they took two, we took one.

When all said and done we lost, we can't handle pace and our defence remains shit.

A shot from 40 yards that dribbles at goal and gets picked up by the keeper can be classed as on target, what chances did they miss that were anything remotely close to the chance Vardy had?

We lost to a 30 yarder that had nothing to do with pace.

And this thread has nothing to do with how many chances we or Everton created, I couldn't give a toss.

What I care about is how suspect we are defensively against teams with pace, certain teams will do better than others against us but the same problem will continue to happen, it's our biggest weakness right now and because of it I feel we are too easy to play against.

Puel seldom changes central midfield when things are going wrong either, I don’t think he thinks it’s important which is peculiar. Also, surely Iborra or Maguire up top in the last few minutes is worth a chance?

It’s been said many times before but........surely the best way to play when we have no pace at the back and attacking full backs that aren’t that good defensively is to play 3 at the back!

I don't understand how Southampton were so tight under Puel. They conceded less than 50 goals that season. Yet here we're struggling to keep clean sheets. Did they have better defenders / holding midfielders than us?

The only time we've genuinely looked solid under him was that run earlier this calendar year when Drogovic partnered Maguire.

Think having Virgil Van Dijk … the best centre back in the league might have had something to do with it.

Quality of chances is more important and the xG stats were fairly even (1.1 v 1.2). Bear in mind a lot of the Everton shots came once we'd lost Morgan and had gotten overrun.

You can see though the xG sum for then is only as high as it is because of the accumulation of low probability attempts, their first is the only genuinely good chance

It never ceases to amaze me how far some of the posters on here go to explain their point. I’ve done my fair share of posts over the years but some must sit on here for hours...

The Stattos and graphics dudes on here love it - fair play to em.

It's just noise and confusion to me but then again I am old, and a bit thick
