More good buys than duds in there. Bold are the ones I consider successes or likely to be successes. Italics are the ones that either played a bit-part role (Iborra, albeit he did it well last season), or possibly being a success, but not had enough time (Soyuncu). The only real 'failures' so far are Iheanacho (22 so still young, but it's not looking optimistic), Silva, Diabate and Jakupovic. Not sure why Ndidi is in that list of yours. At £15m he was a great buy, and he more or less single handedly kept us up in 2017 and would probably cost an arm and a leg now. Bargain.

Whilst you could argue that he isn't currently at his best this season it would take a special kind of idiot to try and argue that he hasn't been a good signing

Dragovic and Benkovic shouldn't be in there, Benkovic could still be a flop and Dragovic only played briefly because the manager didn't want him.

Surely these people talk. So what's the point bringing in a player the manager doesn't want to play. It's not just us loads of clubs seem to do it. You would not buy a machine for a business that could not do the job you wanted it to do.

You would think so but it spoke volumes when he was dropped despite us having a solid and settled back 4 which hardly conceded. Guess who makes that judgement call.. the manager.
Blue ROI Posted 31 December 2018 Posted 31 December 2018 I wouldn't class Iborra as a dud. Certainly not in the silva or nachoman mould.

I think it's unlikely about Benkovic. He's bossed Europa League games against teams like Leipzig, so we know of his quality. The only major doubt is his injury record.

Who didn't get pounded by Man City that season?

With an option to buy which at the time looked a likely deal if we wanted it, instead of looking to rejuvenate our defence with a younger centre back we dropped him at the first sight of Morgan back from injury.
