Bob Weasel Fox Posted 8 January 2019 Posted 8 January 2019 You know over this last 6 months or so I have felt like a schizophrenic babbling nonsensical brain fart of a man thinking of why I just can’t decide if as fans we just need to grit our teeth and give Puel 18 months to 2 years or so to see how his vision pans out or get rid of the boring fvcker Fvck it let’s just get behind the lovely French dynamo and give him our 100 per cent support. The Newport result still rankles as does the Man City league cup QF result this year and last however let’s hope there are more signs of progress in the future as Puel shapes the squad etc Long Live King Claude.
daddylonglegs Posted 8 January 2019 Posted 8 January 2019 i admire his stubbornness but the guy is a complete idiot sometimes. Like proper head in hands at some of his decisions.
Alf Bentley Posted 8 January 2019 Posted 8 January 2019 Have seen a slightly different side to him recently, watching on TV where you can see his reactions, not live at matches. Comes across more animated and emotional than I realised - fierce delight when we scored (v. Everton?), face dark with anger at the Newport performance.....I wouldn't like to have been one of the players after that match! Very different to his TV interviews, which are like listening to someone chewing cardboard. Don't remember him as a player, but I gather he was a tough-tackling defensive central midfielder......which figures.
STUHILL Posted 8 January 2019 Posted 8 January 2019 Needs to finish the season strongly with a comfortable 7th or 8th place finish and then I think he still deserves to take us through the summer and into the start of next season. If we do slip away and drop to 11th/12th, as well as the manor of these recent cup exits and ongoing rumours of player/staff unrest, he's gone IMO and probably rightly so. The key now is for him to try keep the player's motivated in this final stretch, which unfortunately I believe is one of his weaknesses, so I do think we may drop off to the end of the season similar to how we finished last year. Happy to be proven wrong though Claude!

Fox92 Posted 8 January 2019 Posted 8 January 2019 I respect him for what he's been through here and how he's handled it all. The personal criticism aimed at him is not right and not warranted. I've never been so undecided on a manager. That said, I recognise the fact he has inherited an ageing average squad and like I've said all along it'll take years to completely rebuild this squad. On the other hand, I just want to see a bit more desire and energy from us. The Palace game fvcked me off completely and I walked away from Selhurst Park having witnessed the worse game I'd been to in at least a year but the following two games, particularly the Manchester City game, was unbelievable (... then I went to Newport ). That 11 on Sunday should have been enough to put 3 past a League Two side (no disrespect) and the only the I'd have done differently is have Vardy on the bench just in case we were in a position to need him. I think if we'd have lost to Chelsea/Manchester City but beaten Palace/Cardiff then people would look at it differently, even though it's the same number of points taken. We need to finish as strongly as possible now. A goalscoring midfielder would be nice too but I doubt that'll happen. Having shifted Ulloa, Musa, Huth etc he's still got a lot more to get rid of either January or the end of the season. This was never going to be an easy task for Puel or whoever took the job.
Le god Posted 8 January 2019 Posted 8 January 2019 Puel is an awful manager and a complete uninspiring bore... Not only does he have no place at Leicester but I believe he shouldn't be managing any English football club His dreary dull sideways football matches his personality... Can't wait til he is gone out of England
La-li-lu-le-lo Posted 8 January 2019 Posted 8 January 2019 Over the last few days I’ve taken time to reflect on recent ongoing and tried not to let the red mist distort my thinking. All in all, when you look at things Puel has done a good job, yes, I said it a good job. Look at what we’ve done since we lifted the premier league trophy..... we’ve recruited poorly, and that is why we appear to be stagnant, not because of Puel, because of our recruitment. Matt Piper said something very true yesterday, we don’t know what was said in the decisive meeting that landed Puel the job, but I imagine it was something along the lines of compete, but we’ve got to rid the club of the dead wood.... that’s where I think he’s done really well, he’s not been afraid to do so.... look at some of the big earners we’ve had... Musa, Slimani, Silva and Iborra to think of the top of my head, none of which have made a positive impact on the squad. Slimani’s attitide stunk, Musa was a huge mistake and neither Silva or Iborra particularly set the world alight, do they really offer more than Mendy or N’didi? So if the brief was to cut the wage bill, which may mean isolating the players the club want to shift then fair enough, you may as well get by not using them at all. I like how much be pushes youth, Chilwell is where he currently is due to Puel, there are some like Gray and Diabate who haven’t shone, but what other choices do we have? The squad really lacks quality and until we ship off the bigger earners whom we are frankly carrying at the moment, we won’t be able to bring anyone meaningful in so I respect Puel for his persistence, he does make some daft decisions at times, but I think that is purely down to his recourses, he is trying new things with the same faces, sometimes it will work, others it won’t. The fact were in the top the top ten after what has happened is a miracle, and again, it’s mainly down to Puel that we are there, his calm “boring” personality probably helps the players stay relaxed. I was originally a Puel in, then I admit I fell into the Puel out brigade, but now reflecting on 2018, I actually think he’s done a cracking job with what he’s got and I am more than happy with our position. We may not finish seventh, we might just do it but either way I think Puel needs time, due to not being able to shift these players he hasn’t had an opportunity to really sink his teeth into the transfer market yet, so let’s just get through this season get behind the lads and Puel, and try and help push the club on to attempt to gain that seventh place! Do you think Vichai would want the fans to be bickering and arguing between one another? Even if you really, really don’t like Puel, support the badge, support the club you fell in love with following the first click of the turnstile... Our football club has given us more than any of us ever could wish for over the last few years, so let’s get behind the lads and push on... Up the fvcking foxes!

Marshall Cockney Fox Posted 8 January 2019 Posted 8 January 2019 I think the real benefit of his tenure will be appreciated once he's moved on. The football can be dire at times, but the future with young talent looks bright.

Countryfox Posted 8 January 2019 Posted 8 January 2019 Lost mady arse and got in Maddison and Pereira ... defence sorted ... encouraging some good young talent to come through ... clearing out the mountain of dead wood. He at least has a plan and is not knee jerking to look good .... might well fall on his sword but let’s give him a chance eh ...

He needs to stick with one formula, 4-3-3 might just be that.

I said so many times in the summer that getting rid of Slimani would be a stupid decision. He isn't the best but he gets you goals, last season in the seven games he started he scored five goals. The way Claude wants to play though a target man is out of question, we badly need a striker, I'd prefer a target man but I wouldn't be surprised if he gets someone in similar to Vardy.
Nicolo Barella Posted 8 January 2019 Posted 8 January 2019 The way I see it, there's two options for us fans to hope the board carries out. A: See the minimal progress in the team's consistency in performance as inexcusable and a sign of Puel's limitations as a manager with worse to come after giving Puel a year to come good, and reenter the manager merry-go-round, trying to find a manager who performs well from the starting block and keeps performing well for years on end, if failing in finding a suitable candidate, sack, rinse, repeat. Just like the rest of the mid-table that never gets anywhere - aside Bournemouth, who have progressed to a steady premier league side under the reigns of Howe's long term project. B: Forgive the minimal progress Puel has made as being down to a side bogged down with players who do not fit here anymore, and see his improvement of players both young (Chilwell, Choudhury, Ricardo, Maddison) and older (Albrighton, Mendy) as a positive sign that we will not regress under his management, at least, if not progressing towards the Top 6. Worst case scenario, midtable is his limit, and he leaves us with a much better squad. Personally, the fact that Maddison, Ricardo, Chilwell, Choudhury, and Mendy are all worth at least 100 million more collectively than they were this summer is enough for me to give him time.

Read the whole opening post bud I make it quite clear I feel like a schizophrenic with him as manager so yes there has been some progress but at times I do get very frustrated with him for the record I have been married twice engaged 4 times and have 5 children with 3 different women so I do change my mind every now and again.
