Dahnsouff Posted 31 January 2019 Posted 31 January 2019 I really don`t get the issue with this loan (With no agreed buy clause) - Silva has done the square root of c*ck all, so is essentially taking a squad space for nowt. Tielemans could be terrible, but even then we haven`t lost anything (much money anyway), whereas he could be great and climb some league places, then we have to give him back at worst. This means we are in a no lose scenario, and we will also find out if this role/type of player is what we need in the summer. What is not to like?

I see that but I’ve never thought of the deal really being about Silva... Its more about letting Youri Tielemans test drive your motor for a few weeks but he never actually agrees to buy it and you still end up having to replace it in the future with something middle of the road because you can’t afford the one you want.

Lets continue with the analogies; its like test driving an Aston Martin (Hopefully Tielemans is of that sort of quality) to see if you like driving, but when the rental is over, you can only afford a Fiesta. At least you know you like driving, and are still moving forward. (Albeit slower)

However, Silva is not part of current plans. Therefore, this deal is a no lose situation. If Tielemans is the next Silva, no big deal, same position as we are in now. But if he is an improvement then we have won. Of course, ideal scenarios is that both Tielemans and Silva impress and deals are permanent in the summer. Maybe a straight swap (no money required). Let's please give this lad a chance though.
