davieG Posted 28 March 2019 Posted 28 March 2019 Do you remember Muzzy Izzet’s remarkable strike for Leicester City against Tottenham Hotspur in October 1998? Of course you do! With the score 1-1 after Emile Heskey cancelled out Les Ferdinand’s 12 minute opener, five minutes from time Izzet produced a stunning volley from outside the box which flew past Spurs keeper Espen Baardsen. The game was at Filbert Street, and the Foxes went on to finish 10 in the Premier League at the end of the 1998-1999 season. Izzet features 20 on the list, and ahead of the likes of Luis Suarez (Liverpool v Newcastle, 2012/13), Gareth Bale (Spurs v Stoke, 2010/11) and Frank Lampard (Chelsea v Everton, 2006/07). “Younger football fans won’t remember Filbert Street, but it was the kind of place where – how to be polite? – it was hard to imagine good goals being scored,” FourFourTwo went on to add. “By the late 1990s, Martin O’Neill had built a formidable Leicester side, but they were more functional than spectacular. “Emile Heskey was at the more mobile stage of his career, Steve Guppy was one of the best crossers in the country and Matt Elliott was a truly terrifying centre-half. “Izzet usually supplied any genius on show, but this was still probably not what anybody expected to see at the end of a largely forgettable game with Spurs.” https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/muzzy-izzet-strike-ranked-among-2692627
Collymore Posted 28 March 2019 Posted 28 March 2019 Was right behind it in the Kop. IIRC it was one of the rare times Darren Anderton played! Also remember an interview where Muzzy said that the Carling stand got in his way celebrating it and he would have ran out of the ground if it wasn't there

Vindaloo FOX Posted 28 March 2019 Posted 28 March 2019 All my mates were Spurs fans in school, going into school after that game was a day I will not forget. Thanks Muzzy!!
ThaiFox Posted 28 March 2019 Posted 28 March 2019 Every goal we score against spuds is a contender for 'best goal ever' in my view! Even more so if it's the winner!! Huth's header at Shite Hart Lane in our P/L winning season was outstanding! Back to Muzzy. What a fantastic player. He and Neil Lennon were just superb under MON. That goal against spuds was out of this world and I remember it like yesterday.

La-li-lu-le-lo Posted 28 March 2019 Posted 28 March 2019 Both were superb. However, nothing will surpass his overhead at Grimsby, yes it’s not the PL, but the ability and technique shown in that goal was outrageous.

It would have been a joy to be at shite Hart Lane that day

Like one trying to stab me in the back at the villa Park semi. Them punching women at the league Cup final. The problem is the youngsters don't realise football happened before the prem. They also think we only don't like them because of 2016. Personally I'd just like to see the scummy club go bust.
Jaspa Posted 29 March 2019 Posted 29 March 2019 Worthington Cup Final '99 I was less than a month from becoming 7 years old with a blue mohekan, taken down to Old Wembley with my Uncle and his pack of merry lads. Outside The Torch half an hour or so before kick off our lot have congregated all around the pub, bit of banter about but nothing serious - then a double decker open topped bus full of Spurs went past going towards Wembley walk and they were lobbing glass bottles, coins and all sorts straight into us; I had to take cover behind a patio bench and escaped harm. So, thats my earliest memory of Spurs and their lot. F*** 'um
davieG Posted 29 March 2019 Author Posted 29 March 2019 I'm sure that whatever you've experienced from some Spurs fans some fans of other clubs will have experienced the same or worse from some Leicester 'fans' certainly seen plenty in action. Sadly every club seems to have some scum bags and we're no exception so I'm not convinced what is verging on a holier than thou attitude is justified.
otistoasty Posted 29 March 2019 Posted 29 March 2019 I remember a Gary coatsworth strike. Great strike from and talented defender.
