The Tielemans situation got me thinking of previous on loan players we took to our hearts be it through their quality or work rate. What would your best / favourite XI be?

I'd suggest the following criteria -

They didn't end up signing permanently ie Huth, Izzet

They hadn't been here permanently before ie Alan Smith, Kevin MacDonald

Base it on their performances whilst with us not after ie Harry Kane, Jesse Lingaard,

Short term deals like Mancini and GK Ricardo probably shouldn't count as weren't loans

Any more criteria and it'll be more complex than the Brexit deal

At the moment Tielemans qualifies but hopefully we'll be able to keep him. Off the top of my head, I'm bound to miss many more obvious ones:-

GK - Mike Hooper / Chris Kirkland / Pearson era loanees, can't decide (good start)

RB - Kyle Naughton (or Gary Charles)

LB - struggling.....Greg Cunningham?

CB - Curtis Davies

CB - Vitor (EDIT DRAGOVIC !)

DM - Mick Galloway

CM - Tielemans

AM - Gerry Daly

CF/W - Laurie Cunningham

CF - Kevin Campbell

CF - Feed the Yak(ubu) and he will score

Sub - Dyer for his invaluable contribution to our fairytale

Contenders - Davies (AM), Cleverley (AM), Trevor Hebberd

We had a Spurs lad on loan at the same time as Arsenal loaned Kevin Cambell to us, can’t remember his name though...

Seems about spot on. Ryan Smith showed some promise during a bleak period in our history. Didn't go on to have much of a career though.

Ryan Smith was one of those that you'd feel smug tipping off fans of other clubs about, "destined for big things, one to watch" etc and then found your reliability rating had plumetted!

in the 92/94 season (when we beat Derby in play offs) Paul Kerr scored a vital goal in a 1-0 win at Portsmouth, worthy of a pint in the fazzyfox pint allocation system any day.

Was Mancini a loan ???

I believe he was virtually retired but still registered at Lazio. One web site call it a one-month trial contract, Wiki call it a loan. When a managerial opportunity came he was allowed to take it. I'm glad it happened though!

Gerrimin ahead of Yakubu perhaps!
