Oh, how much I miss the halcyon days of Youri.

 

As a 35 year old I was skipping to Filbo again to watch my idol. I LOVED watching him play the game.

 

We were so spoilt

He's been without a club for 2 and a half years according to his transfermarkt page, back when he managed to play all of 4 games (two full 90s and two 45 minutes) for RFC Seraing in the Belgian 2nd division


Isola Capo Rizzuto play in 5th tier of Italian football - which has 464 teams across 28 regional divisions. Probably equivalent to Step 4 or 5 on our non-league pyramid!

So it'd be like (for example) Tom Lawrence or Michael Keane turning up for Barwell or Anstey Nomads

Despite the Leicester City relegation at the end of the 2022/23 season, Harvey Barnes still scored 13 Premier League goals from his wing position and was top scorer for the club, 13 goals from 32 PL starts mighty impressive when you consider how poor Leicester were overall.

This is the real truth about Harvey Barnes laid out below.

His Premier League record these last five and a bit years.

From the start of the 2019/20 Premier League season onwards.

My only surprise is how surprised so many Newcastle United fans are, at just how good and productive Harvey Barnes is!

2019/20 Premier League (Leicester City)

14 Direct Goal involvements (6 goals and 8 assists) – 2,094 PL minutes played

A Harvey Barnes direct goal involvement once every 149 minutes

2020/21 Premier League (Leicester City)

13 Direct Goal involvements (9 goals and 4 assists) – 1,950 PL minutes played

A Harvey Barnes direct goal involvement once every 150 minutes

2021/22 Premier League (Leicester City)

16 Direct Goal involvements (6 goals and 10 assists) – 2,107 PL minutes played

A Harvey Barnes direct goal involvement once every 131 minutes

2022/23 Premier League (Leicester City)

14 Direct Goal involvements (13 goals and 1 assist) – 2,720 PL minutes played

It's fair to say he was a little hot and cold but he got a lot more stick than he deserved considering his output.

 

When I saw the Newcastle highlights I smiled but I wish he was still with us. It's one thing losing good players who have no connection to the Club, but losing a lad like Barnes because of financial mismanagement when he didn't even want to leave is still galling.

As mentioned above, Schmeichel's the first Celtic keeper since 1906 to start with five clean sheets. Tom Sinclair was the man who did it back then, and no doubt he gave credit to the full backs in front of him - one of whom was Willie Orr. He's the man who, in 1929, was Leicester manager when we finished runners-up in the League - our best finish until Kasper and the lads in 2016:

The story of Tom Sincair's move to Celtic is pretty bizarre. Their regular keeper Davey Adams injured his hand during a pre-season game at Ibrox when he collided with a goalpost that had a sharp nail sticking out of it. As some kind of compensation, Rangers loaned a keeper to Celtic until Adams was fit again - and that was Tom Sinclair.
