To be fair to this team Steve Howard was a legend in a dark time as was Oakley. Mcauley was quality and Stearman was a god academy product who only left as we needed the money to sell him. I literally forgot about David Bell.

I liked Steve Howard but a lot of our knuckle draggers hated him during our relegation season.

Wasn't until League One people started to turn.

I'd never seen that... unreal lol

What website would that have been? This place didn't exist until 2004. Talking Balls? Bentley's? :dunno:

The official club website had a forum until 2005 or so as previously mentioned, it was probably that one.

In Taylors first season when we were top 4 until April, Rowett had a great season to be fair. His signings were dreadful and he was the beginning of the end, but Rowett was good in that first season.

People always say this about this season. We were good until christmas and even then you could see where everything was going to come crumbling down.

When i typing this i was gonna say we won 4 matches after december, it was 5. Saying we were top 4 in April massively papers over the cracks from that season. It was the same kind of talk that kept the plonker in a job as long as he was.

I remember having a substitute teacher from Leeds for that actual week who told me they'd trounce us. I didnt go in for the rest of the week.

Yeah he joined half way through a terrible season, but always gave his all and helped us win league one with vital winning goals (off the top of my head Millwall away and Leeds home) Then helped us reach the play offs the following season.

Wow calm down. I was merely talking about one player (Rowett) and stating a fact that 3 quarters of the season wasn't actually a massive car crash, we beat Liverpool and Chelsea at home after Christmas where Rowett was instrumental (scored in one I believe)

The end of the season was shocking and a sign of things to come but Rowett was decent.

I was about 10 years old and I'm now 32, and I still don't think I've ever been as angry as when this penalty was given. Honestly thought we were such a great cup team we were going to win the league Cup and FA Cup that season. If not for Elleray we probably would have.

Yes, will never forget that name.

I remember he came to ref a game at Filbert St not long after possibly against west ham and every time he gave us a free kick we chanted, “you’re still a fooking wanka”

I don’t think he ever came back to Filbert St again.

I stared at this pic for way too long trying to work out wtf Matt Elliott was holding in his hand. Looks like an Armadillo without its armour shell lol
