AFTV

Following the critism of AFTV by the main stream media is this just a bitter industry living in the past criticising the new kid on the block. Is the view of somebody who may be detached from the situation more valid than someone who cares passionately about it or vice versa. I have personally thought than the AFTV crew are clowns but that doesnt mean that  they haven't a point and they have no right to make it. The is nothing stopping clubs setting up youtubrme channels withviews that match the owners being aired.

Fan TV, of pretty much any "flavour", allows sole club focus, whilst also allowing opposition fans to indulge in a bit of schadenfraude between matches.

These are things the main stream media can't/won't do.

It is a bitter industry living in the past. These old media heads want to be the gatekeepers of the sport but fan channels and podcasts have levelled things up. They castigated AFTV for going over the top in criticism but they have no problems going on talksport with Adrian Durham and Jason Cundy who regularly say inflammatory things against players and fans. Durham has railed against Wenger and Ozil for years, almost personally attacking them. I don't hear Jason Burt and John Cross complaining about that. But when a fella called Troopz with a roadman accent does it then suddenly it's a big problem. Get in the bin!! Cant stand there holier than thou journalists and pundits.

Say what you like about AFTV and its comedy value but I roll my eyes when journalists single them out as if they are bringing the game into disrepute. AFTV wasn't around when Arsenal fans booed Eboue and reduced him to tears but somehow it's their fault for creating an atmosphere of hostility towards their players (Xhaka).

Basically the likes of John Cross and Jason Burt and their pals want to control the narrative. They hate seeing fans having an equally influential platform.

It's absolutely terrible. Nothing to do with 'new kids on the block'. It's just shite and I'm amazed how many people buy in to it and continue to watch it. Same with that Mark Goldbridge idiot for Utd.

It's not 'journalism'. It's just shouting down in front of a camera down a microphone for likes and attention.

You can care passionately for your club but also not act like a cretin at the same time.

I love watching them when we beat them it's so funny. All the clowns huddling round the camera waiting to slate someone it's brilliant.

You could see a large group of people huddled around the away end after the game and "Jamie Vardy's magic" being blared out and you knew that AFTV was being filmed :D

People seriously comparing this kind of thing to professional media outlets? Good God.

What's professional about wind up merchants on radio stations? What's professional about journalists whipping up racial abuse towards Sterling?

I was referring to people like Henry Winter who have spent decades building up their reputation, and give valuable incite into the world of sport that go beyond shouting nonsense about individual players. I wouldn't really class the wind up merchants you refer to as professional either, it's lowest common denominator entertainment. I'm sure some people like Durham and the like are actually really interesting and insightful outside of  TS, but they're effectively the radio equivalent of Tiny Tommy and Katie Hopkins going door to door like a Daz advert at times. I haven't listened to the station for years now because the barrage of betting ads and controversial statements alienates me.

As for the journalists whopping up racial abuse, I don't care for them either and they are a product of their environment, much like some of those at TS.

I'm all for breaking down the class barriers and giving less privileged a chance to make a name in journalism, or any career for that matter, but you also have to respect those who have done the hard yards as opposed to chancers with a camera. The notion that Henry Winter should share a platform with people like that dude who thinks he's Jamie Vardy is nonsense.

They are a bunch of idiots playing their audience and hitting the right buttons. But so are the mainstream media. Can't bear reading or watching the big news outlets these days, it's all so twisted and biased. I just want to know the news, not your corrupted view on it based on where your paymasters' puppet strings are.

Football 'journalism' is basically the same these days. the likes of Chris Sutton, Goldstein and Cundy et al just whipping up a storm for likes and comments. How Ian Wright gets continuous media gigs is beyond me, he can barely speak coherently. Nothing professional whatsoever about the established media.

I respect Henry Winter, Honigstein, Marcotti etc. They try to contribute positively to football debates.

What I have a problem is the castigating of AFTV but journalists dont call out their own peers for going OTT with inflammatory comments. Its hypocritical. .

You're basing that view on a few pundits though? Professionally trained journalists are a very different thing - Henry Winter, Daniel Storey, Daniel Taylor etc. Lumping them all in with ex-players wheeled out to say something controversial is insulting. Surely you can tell the difference rather than just shrugging your shoulders and saying "Mainstream Media's all the same"?

Really?  lol

It's fcking hilarious Stan, I Love a bit of AFTV.

I mean ultimately even if you don't like it  you should seee no reason why they should be allowed a platform.  If people want to see it people want to see it, Really is just mainstream media getting pissy.

I like AFTV and the Blood Bruvas stuff is a good watch doing a fly on the wall documentary around a group of Youtube based football teams playing amatuer football.

AFTV is my guilty pleasure when Arsenal lose, other then that I couldn't care less.

Fan-made content is important, I suppose we're fortunate that BBC Radio Leicester I think does a good job in talking to the fans and getting their opinions heard which kind of negates the need of an AFTV-for-Leicester. However, it can be quite a dangerous platform as there's no controls/restrictions on what is mentioned. Aren't the Arsenal players extremely unhappy with AFTV as a whole?

And therein is the difference between fan channels and the "MSM". One of these days they're going to publish something seriously defamatory and there'll be no one properly trained or qualified to stop them.

To be honest I find AFTV a bit boring now that they're actually shit. Its best years were when they'd declined significantly under Wenger but it hadn't really sunk in for the fans yet, so there was still the delusions of grandeur where they'd start every season thinking they should be winning big games and challenging for the title. Then we'd watch them lose at home to Villa and get thrashed away in the big games and it was comedy gold.

Robbie knows exactly what he's doing fair plsy to him, get a few over passionate fans with OTT views for probably the most YouTube club in the world and you've got yourself a successful youtube channel. Robbie himself barely speaks which is very clever but yeah I think you need Arsenal as 'almost' winners to make it more of a successful formula than just being sh it.

That isn't what they are though are they?

I'll slag AFTV off forever but at least they are genuinely professional with high end camera and sound equipment as well as recording studios etc.

I don't think it's hilarious and never have done.

They're a bunch of moaning twats with no actual journalistic intent. They're hypocrites as well (more than we see on here!).

Having access to high end technology and equipment doesn't make you a trained journalist though.

Never said it does but it doesn't mean you can't produce professional material.

Whilst it doesn't make them journalists, they are saying it as they see it.

But the attack launched by the press on Troopz wasn't accurate according to Troopz who reacted like a petulant teenager to the story with "its all my fault Blud".. but to criticise somebody for criticising people a bit kettle calling the pot black

I think the problem the press at large have is the size of the audience they get 1 million subscribers the UK's best selling newspaper (I use that word lightly) the sun just under 2million

Well yeah, that's the absolute beauty of it. How can you not find Arsenal fan's losing their rag and coming out with utter nonsense not funny!
