David Hankey Posted 6 February 2020 Posted 6 February 2020 Cracking result which will live long in the memory as will the 2015/16 season.

I was soaked through with a banging hangover from the night before, but I didn't care. I thoroughly expected us to lose that day, and I struggled to contain myself as the goals went in. We went to a local pub after the game and stood at the bar absolutely surrounded by people in sky blue who were very welcoming and complimentary. Some even wanted us to go on and win the league. You should’ve walked out the away end, a lot and I mean a lot of Man City fans shook our hands on the way back to the station, even on the train they we’re complimentary. They get stick from the oil money but they are true football fans from there. Felt like a drowned rat but didn’t care one bit.

Early kick-off, absolutely chucking it down and all of the talk on the trains and trams en route to the ground was "If City (Manchester City) lose today, Leicester could win the league". You'd expect that when that Huth header went in there would be absolute pandemonium from then until the final whistle. Yes, people celebrated the goal wildly but I'l always remember an almost eerie atmosphere as people stood (me included) with hands on heads in a "is this really happening?" fashion. Man City fans were great about it on the whole and I remember as we sang "we're gonna win the league" at full time there was lots of pointing and gesturing from the home end in a "you're gonna win the league" fashion. Meandered down the stairs out of the ground back into the dreary afternoon and all of sudden we're pulled aside by an interviewer for Premier League World or something like that. Her first question was to summarise what we'd just witnessed and I told her in 20 years of following Leicester I'd never seen scenes like the utter disbelief in the away end when we went 3-0 up. Her second question was 'do you believe you can now win the league?' and I just waved my hand and refused to answer the question. There was just no way I could possibly say it. Still don't think I fully believed this day. Many say they did, but for me it was still too soon and it was the midweek round of fixtures after we drew with West Brom and then Spurs failed to beat West Ham and Arsenal failed to be Swansea that I thought "this is on". Great memories! Imagine joining in with opposition fans singing ‘you’re gonna win the league’ to them.
Corky Posted 6 February 2020 Posted 6 February 2020 We were truly brilliant that day, a masterclass in shutting out the opposition and then just bombing forward at pace to catch them out.
bovril Posted 6 February 2020 Posted 6 February 2020 Some good posts in this thread. I was watching it in an Irish pub in Sofia. It was pretty empty and the only other person there who was interested in the game was a coked up Bulgarian lad with a Tunchev shirt on who did laps of the street outside when Huth scored his second. It was a very auspicious time of my life and that whole period reminds me of so many different things. I didn't think we'd win the league after this, honestly. I don't even remember if I thought we'd get top 4. It was mad really, nothing like this season with the expectations we have, I genuinely can't remember what I thought. I think I was just totally taken along by the whole thing. Like the poster above said, I was pretty much pissed from then until we won the league. Mad times.
LestaAl Posted 6 February 2020 Posted 6 February 2020 Happy memories of an empty lunchtime pub in Notts and the locals in disbelief when, as they came in I told them the score...
Hammo Posted 6 February 2020 Posted 6 February 2020 We absolutely destroyed them, that’s what I remember. Kanté and Drinkwater (phenomenal that day) bossed midfield and we were so so good. Even so, I was petrified when Danny Simpson’s back pass let in Aguero at the end and he should have made it 2-3. But he missed, thank heavens, and that was that. Arguably the greatest performance and result in our history.
fuchsntf Posted 6 February 2020 Posted 6 February 2020 Even now..I have a lump in my throat and could cry at that day and the momentum we the fans picked up on....
Guest Posted 7 February 2020 Posted 7 February 2020 Anyone else shit themselves when Simpson gave the ball to Aguero for a simple one on one at 3-1? (for 3-2) Thankfully he missed cus my heart wouldn’t have taken the few minutes we may have been clinging on for.
Vindaloo FOX Posted 7 February 2020 Posted 7 February 2020 I was high on acid in Rio de Janeiro carnival when this game was played. amazing memories.

PlasticFantastic Posted 7 February 2020 Posted 7 February 2020 I was stuck in a shitty little french airport, no TVs, and WiFi that was worse than useless. Had to phone my wife at home, and get her to put the phone by the TV for 90 minutes so I could at least listen to the commentary. Still no idea what that call cost, but it was worth every single penny!
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 7 February 2020 Posted 7 February 2020 Remembering stuff like this is why I don't care if Riyad comes out with some tripe about us or forced a move, look what the lad did for us.
