Lee Mason to ref League Cup Final

So Lee Mason, who was the VAR Ref that somehow didn`t overturn the blatantly obvious Villa handball, for a penalty to us in the semi final, has been rewarded for his ineptitude by being made the Ref for the final!

Oh and the VAR Ref for the final will be, you guessed it, Mike Dean, who was so blind he didn`t see it as a hand ball in the first place, and the the Ref that wasn`t overruled by Lee Mason!

You couldn`t make it up!

You'd think it would be a different officials to ones that did any of the semi-finals.

I fully LOATHED Chelsea for 19 years after Erland Johnson dived to get a penalty against us in the cup.

It`s not about letting it go, it`s about referees being rewarded even when they make clear errors.

What incentive do these referees have when they know that even if they make an obvious poor decision, it will not impact them in the slightest.

There is no way that Lee Mason should have been considered to referee this seasons final.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the standard of refereeing and officiating in this country (for a so called top league) is awful.

Over the incident now, but it seems being a ref is the only career where your incompetence is rewarded. They need to get their heads outside their echo chamber.

Well that and managers. Mark Hughes, Sam Alladyce, Alan Pardew etc have all made more much money from being failures than successes!

I never liked Mason ever since he sent Kisnorbo off at Bramall Lane.  Shocking ref.

 

John Moss gets bad press on here but I'd rather have him instead of Mason or Pawson.

Allardyce has been largely very successful hasn't he? Of the nine clubs he's managed, it's only really Newcastle where it could be argued he didn't leave them in a better state than before he arrived.

I think fans complain about whoever is appointed - only remembering decisions that have gone against them ..

I never understand this argument, what league in world football has amazing lauded refs? Every country makes the same complaints

I wasn't arguing that other leagues have amazing refs, but 'the best league in the world' is constantly rammed down our throats, yet our referees can't even see blatant handballs with technology and multiple replays to view incidents again.
