Surely at some point he's going have to start slowing down?! 2030 is the time for slowing down Especially if in 2525 man is still Alive & Woman can survive....

Not sure there was any rush to do this.still had 2 years left, already one of the biggest earners and unlikely to be poached by anyone. What happens if he has a crap season next year? If that happened he'd win the Golden Boot in the next season.

What we don't want is a situation where he's earning 120k + week yet sitting around injured for a long period of time or not featuring in the match day squad. Hopefully he'll still be at this level in a couple of seasons, we won't give a shit about the wage then Vardy has been responsible for putting a far greater amount than his wages into the Club's coffers during his time here.
Leeds Fox Posted 26 August 2020 Posted 26 August 2020 Any idea on improved terms or what it just a one year extension? Purely out of curiosity.

moore_94 Posted 27 August 2020 Posted 27 August 2020 £7m a year, ~£135k a week, so I am pretty sure it isn’t a pay rise Maybe included some clauses related to end of career/injuries etc?
Dames Posted 27 August 2020 Posted 27 August 2020 Love the bloke but he hasn't got 3 more years at the top level left in him. Feels like another sentimental decision rather than a business savvy one.

It happens to every player eventually. 2 minutes ago, Tuna said: Wasn't he "finished" 2 years ago? No but he won't be an elite level striker in 2 years time. There is evidence of it now, if he isn't on the job its effectively like playing with 10 men, he doesn't chase down or harry no where near the level that he used too. I understand that its a deliberate tactic but it will eventually become a hinderance rather than a benefit. I'm not slating him, he's fantastic but at his age I can't see him being at his current level for much longer. If he proves me wrong i'll be happy but I don't know why this couldn't have waited 12-18 months to see how the club and Vardy both get on.

One of our best ever strikers, if not the actual best.

I actually agree for the most part but from a form perspective theres a possibility of relegation, its unprobable but our form at the back end of last season would put us in the mix. I just think from a business perspective having someone that age on a big contract for that long has the potential to backfire. It would have made more sense to just give him a massive bonus and wait to see how the next 12-18 months play out before offering an extension.
