Hmm. Not sure there was any rush to do this.still had 2 years left, already one of the biggest earners and unlikely to be poached by anyone. What happens if he has a crap season next year?

If that happened he'd win the Golden Boot in the next season.

I get where you're coming from mate, I just don't think it was needed when he has 2 years left. What we don't want is a situation where he's earning 120k + week yet sitting around injured for a long period of time or not featuring in the match day squad.

Hopefully he'll still be at this level in a couple of seasons, we won't give a shit about the wage then:scarf:

Vardy has been responsible for putting a far greater amount than his wages into the Club's coffers during his time here.

Another one?!

That's him here til the end of his career then surely?

Hope so would hate to see a legend playing for another club.

Love the bloke but he hasn't got 3 more years at the top level left in him. Feels like another sentimental decision rather than a business savvy one.

Wasn't he "finished" 2 years ago?

I'm not saying he's finished now but he's nearly 34 and won't be able to maintain his current level for much longer. It happens to every player eventually.

No but he won't be an elite level striker in 2 years time. There is evidence of it now, if he isn't on the job its effectively like playing with 10 men, he doesn't chase down or harry no where near the level that he used too. I understand that its a deliberate tactic but it will eventually become a hinderance rather than a benefit.

I'm not slating him, he's fantastic but at his age I can't see him being at his current level for much longer.

If he proves me wrong i'll be happy but I don't know why this couldn't have waited 12-18 months to see how the club and Vardy both get on.

I think with Vardy there's definitely a case of the club being allowed to be sentimental! One of our best ever strikers, if not the actual best.

I actually agree for the most part but from a form perspective theres a possibility of relegation, its unprobable but our form at the back end of last season would put us in the mix. I just think from a business perspective having someone that age on a big contract for that long has the potential to backfire.

It would have made more sense to just give him a massive bonus and wait to see how the next 12-18 months play out before offering an extension.

Yeah under Puel there were plenty "it isnt the system hes just clearly finished" type posts.

I think hes going to suprise alot of people with just how long he does go on for.
