You've been a great voice of reason over the last few weeks, but hopefully you can understand why many fans, myself included, and getting nervy. We literally collapsed as a team in this calendar year and are in urgent need of reinforcements. But other than new contracts the first big piece of business will be to sell an academy graduate to a top 6 rival!

Hopefully it all gets sorted out, and even one signing of the right calibre would get everone pumped again.

Anyway staying on topic, having Vardy around till he retires is A-OK with me. The Leicester City GOAT!

I agree the collapse was a concern but this group of players also took us into the position we were in. Hopefully the second half of the season was a regression to our mean level (a 62 point season and EL football) rather than anything more sinister.

After the October international break we could realistically have a fully fit squad with four decent signings in. We only need to get through WBA, Burnley, Man City (dead cert loss) and West Ham before then, plus advance in a League Cup third round game.

I would rather we wait until the last couple of weeks if it means we are saving several million quid and/or getting our primary targets.

Keep the faith everyone, it's going to be a very exciting season.

I'm not being funny but its lovely giving out new contracts but what about new players?! I'm getting a little worried.....

It’s not necessarily one or the other. How much easier is it to tie down current players than sign others mid-way through a transfer window. We’ve not sold anyone yet, let’s just relax with the incoming transfers. This window has a long way to go yet.

We’ve got a great squad that needs strengthening. Everyone knows this, the club most of all. We’ve done well with transfers over the past 3/4 years. It’ll all be done in due course and on our terms. As Elvis once said, ‘Only Fools Rush In’.

All in due course.

Edit: I’d like to add that, we were all expecting one big departure this window (as per usual). That’s going to be Chilwell, not Ricardo, Soyuncu, N’Didi or Evans... and Maddison has just signed a contract. We should be laughing. This squad could’ve been torn apart with the wrong management. It’s likely we’re pulling massive money for someone who, albeit is a talent, will allow us to improve again as a squad. While keeping the core together. We’ll buy who we feel will improve us.

We’re laughing as a club. We’re Leicester City and we’re fuming we finished 5th. We shouldn’t have finished fifth and that’s even funnier. We are going places and I trust the club to recruit well enough to move us forward.

I think his current deal was until 2022?

He'll be 36 in 2023. Surely at some point he's going have to start slowing down?!

I imagine over the next few years he will take on a Morgan role. One or two more seasons as our main striker, and then back-up and mentor to the younger strikers coming through, and always a link back to the great escape, title, and european competion. That coupled with his development from non-league to scoring a goal for England at the world cup is a great asset and inspiration to have around the squad for several more years.

Imvho an astute bit of business. Sends a good message out to other players. Vardy has played hardball over a couple of contracts here but have been agreed. Would have been in no real position to push for ages deal but this is a bit of a well done you deserve it message from the club.

Don't see the point of this, not like we are hanging on to him. Have no problem with showing him loyalty and letting him finish his career here but if he does slow down and form goes then hopefully he'll accept becoming a bit part player.

It does seem we're always offering someone a new deal. An agent's dream.

Should anyone in the first team earn more than Vardy, last year’s Golden Boot winner, for goodness sake?

Maddison’s new deal justifies Vardy’s. And it’s not like we’re doubling Vardy’s wages, it’s just a small bump. C’mon, people.

Shows that if you are loyal and work hard at this club you will be greatly rewarded. This is good for so many things! Retention of younger talent as well as sending a hugely positive message to any potential new signings.

Keeping your current squad happy, makes it easier to keep the squad together and of course when showing new signings around, if everyone is happy and jokey, they are more likely to sign.

Vardy will likely be part of our coaching set up once he's done playing. An invaluable guy around the training ground and dressing room!

Absolute legend who deserves all the credit he gets!

He’s more of a shakespeare than a Pearson..

Love Vardy. Arguably our greatest ever player.

Not sure he'd make a good manager though. Probably more of a mad dog Allen than a Shakespeare or Pearson.

Totally agree.

I thought I'd read somewhere previously that Vardy had an agreement in his contract which would increase his wage to match that of any other player who is given a contract earning more than him. Not sure if true but maybe this does tie in with the Maddison contract extension.

It's not outside the realms of possibility that Vardy may have fancied a shot at the Champions League with a short term deal at Chelsea, Man U,  or even Man City, what would they have to loose? Another year on his contract is probably a good idea at this stage.

3 years is totally fine. When everyone was moaning midway through 18/19 with Puel that he was finished, I said hes got a 3 more years at the top, so far proven correct and I think hes got 1 more good year in him next year!

He is getting on a bit, and showing signs of aging in the lockdown games, however for what hes done for our club, he deserves every single penny of that contract. I still think as long as were competing at the top end of the top 10 he should get 15-20 goals in all comps next year, and im sure if we are competitive he will do that. The only time he struggles for a few games is when we are relegation standard(16-17 first half under Ranieri and 18-19 under Puel)..any striker in the world struggles in those type of battles.

Even if by 21-22 and especially 22-23 seasons, hes a sub and an older head around the dressing room, that's totally fine with me. I also wouldn't begrude him dropping down a league if he wants to continue playing more regularly, IF and WHEN hes no longer first choice here.

He is undoubtedly our greatest ever player and when he retires deserves a statue and a stand named after him, for his loyalty, commitment, achievements and most importantly pure quality. We will NEVER replace him so enjoy him for as long as we can!

Premier League Winner

Golden Boot Winner

Lets add another trophy to his and our legacy next season!!

Great news.

He is our talisman, our heartbeat, our Leicester City. The most  important player we’ve had in living memory.

i hope he stays with us till the day he hangs his boots up. The thought of him in another shirt makes me feel sick, would rather see my wife with another man.

Legend.

I get rewarding people... but three years for a 33 soon to be 34 year old?

He'll be playing with us until he's about 38 Babs. I'm sure of it.

He won't always be our main striker but he'll be involved.

He's fit as a fiddle. Can see him carrying on like the likes of Phillips and Sheringham.

He might be... but at that age things can go downhill rapidly. You can keep giving him another year when he's got a year left on the current one.

It's a one year extension that prooooobably lets him retire at the club and likely to be an extremely minimal pay rise, all as a reward for just getting the golden boot.

And at a time where some of our players might be tempted to look at the exit?

I don't see too many negatives.

Our fans questioning what the club do with Jamie Vardy yet again? Haven't we fcukin learnt? He could and should be given 100 bags a week until he's about 80 for all he's done here and it still wouldn't be enough. He is Leicester, he is everything. Once he's retired, give him the managers job, let him do what he wants.

Said it before, Vardy will still be outpacing defenders and scoring goals well into his 40s

Best pound for pound signing we've ever made

Maybe but just maybe they want to firstly attend to tying up and letting go internal dealings, I've heard Johnny Evans could leave as he's on his last year so I imagine LCFC are in talks with him and if we don't hear in the very near future then they will announce the signing of someone,  Balak I'm hoping for, and  just maybe they offered Jamie a new contract to have parity to the new incoming signing who will be on last year's vardy wages...
