Surely Maddison has to be banging the door down for a recall. Especially with Smith-Rowe waddling around on Arsenal’s bench looking 2 stone overweight.

He has been our stand out player this season, his numbers have been superb and he has shown great character to regain his form. 
 

He has definitely matured this season and after listening to his heartfelt message to Birch you can see just how much he loves the club. Really hope we keep hold of him, tie him down to a new long term contract and build the team around him

Just on the England squad think Bowen will likely come in for ESR. Think ESR only came into the last squad because Bowen was injured just before.
 

So madders likely still competing with Mount, Grealish, Sterling, Foden, Sancho, Bowen, Rashford etc for a couple of spots

Rashford should be nowhere near the england squad right now, and Grealish doesn't deserve his place. And if anyone wants to compare Madder's stats with Sancho this season, they are more than welcome (hint - in the PL, Sancho has scored 3 and has 3 assists).

 

It would be a disgrace if Madders isn't just in the squad, let alone doesn't play at some point. But i know Southgate likes to keep consistency so I doubt he will shake it up much beyond the team who qualified.

Its funny how so many are looking for a bit of reflected glory with Maddison getting picked for England. Nobody seems to be pushing Fofana for the French squad and very few mention that Jonny Evans is six caps short of his 100th cap. I'm sure Jimmy will get a few caps in his career but as usual with most Leicester players , getting picked for England usually coincides with a dramatic loss of form. Chilwell and Drinkwater being prime examples.

The new mature Maddison now knows that in modern football getting international recognition is not the summit of Everest , there are bigger mountains to climb. He has a cup winners medal and I'm sure that, like Vardy , he wants to pair it with a PL winners medal. This is going to be very difficult , its almost a closed shop now with three teams. His friend Grealish looks like doing it and he will have ambitions to do the same. All he can do is maintain a very high standard and hope an opportunity arises.

He was unreal today! A goal and an assist will be the headline makers, but it was the way he drifted through the lines, turned with the ball under pressure to make things happen, his wonderfully deft outside of the boot flicks and passes... an all round top display.

 

I was one of those that thought at the start of the season that he had his head turned and that maybe it was time to go. But now it's obvious he is the player we need to build the team around.

 

The only fear is that he's been so good that someone might come in for him, He is and always has been much better than Harry Maguire. His stats this season are better than Grealish!

 

Full credit to the player. Turned it round to be consistently good, game after game after game. A delight to watch in this form!

That goal puts him on 33 PL goals, joint 3rd  for us in the PL with Heskey and Izzet - having played less games than both.

Goal and assist today. Finishes the PL season with 12 goals and 8 assists. 

 

20 goals contributed towards is superb. Sets the bar for next season and that can only be a good thing to look forward to for him and us next season!

So worried we'll lose him in the summer, he is with Fofana our most valuable asset, if we're lucky he stays because he's settled at present, but the stick he has had from us as fans I wouldn't be surprised if he wanted away, he could play in a top club imo, hope Rodgers is considering him as captain if Kasper leaves us

Who will want him though? Only ManUtd, Chelsea and Arsenal play with #10s from the top 6 and they have Fernandes, Mount and Ødegaard already.

 

I don’t see any of the bigger clubs with a current need for players in his position
