Watching 'Ambulance' last night on BBC & these latest comments on wasted funding in NHS peeked my interest as i watched a call centre try to free an Ambulance on what was an overally busy night with all resource being required in the Hull area, to go & meet the coastguards helicopter 8+miles from Hull Royal Infirmary to pick up a patient because the brand new 'Heli-pad' at the hospital wasn't designed to accept the helicopters the coastguard used.
Surely during planning being a coastal city & hospital accepting patients rescued from sea & surrounding areas from the coastguard you would have thought they would design the heli-pad accordingly, but no.

Helicopters have changed over the years

That is interesting, other way round in my experience. Way too much risk in public contracts and onboarding costs are too high. If you are making 30-40% in PROFIT that is unbelievable. I price jobs to make a 60% recovery. Break even is fantastic, consistent profit is unheard of IMO.

Most consultants hit around 10% profit, we are a bit over that but are an outlier.

Very broad statement. If 'most' consultants are hitting 10% profit their charge out rates must be artificially low. Or they're outsourcing everything to Mauritius at £50 an hour. Given you said you didn't know about Mauritius I am guessing you don't out source, in which case I assume you must be underpaying your staff compared to market?

We pay above market rates and work shorter weeks.....

10-12% is about standard after the Directors have taken a salary.

Some incredibly broad statements said very confidently and leaving my very confused LOL.

Market rate for a grad/associate is £150-190 an hour, partner at £700 are you charging that and making 10% on top?! Whilst working 9-5?!

We aren't solicitors, we are Engineers. Charge out rates for partners are rarely as high as £150 and hour.

I'm the kind of person that if I paid that much, I'd work 3-4 hours a week.

When you fit a new smoke detector, are they supposed to make random little sqeeks?.

Still in test mode where it beeps every few mins?

Mine used to do that and it drove me mad. Took the battery out for a bit then put it back in. That sorted it.

As with all these things depends how much you want to spent. I used to have a Rocket Appartamento, but when it gave up the ghost I want ease and convenience and got the Sage Bambino Plus as the automated milk frothing sold it. It's been really good.

I've seen plenty of reviews for the Ninja and it seems a bit Jack of all traders master of none as they're trying to offer more features than can be provided for the price range they're aiming at. A decent burr grinder costs more than the machine and that's one of the main features to actually extract good coffee. That being said, all good coffee suppliers can send pre-ground coffee which would be far better than ground beans in a cheap grinder. I do have a decent grinder so buy beans, but you can a coffee subscription from ozone coffee to ship ground beans every other week for £8 and it'll be fine during that time.

That being said, James Hoffman seemed to like the Ninja and he's my go to coffee nerd that knows more about coffee that I've forgotten. He has also said similar to me that just buying pre ground beans and spending more on a better espresso machine makes more sense.

Good luck down this rabbit hole!

The world seems to be full of crap things from my childhood coming back as 'nostalgic' like angel delight etc, which I never liked.

Yet Arctic Roll, which is an absolute winner, no sign?

Not worth its own thread, but I long for Arctic Roll and you can shove your Angel Delight.

Yes I noticed Article roll disappeared a while back, no idea why as it was a classic.  Farm foods was probably the last place I saw it.

Blasphemy! Raspberry/strawberry Angel Delight sprinkled with Cadbury's Flake crumbled on top = heaven.

Quick and easy too.
