I had a VHS of that back in the 90s off a mate of my dad. I played it at a new year's eve party at my house one year and it brought the house down!

I totally agree with your middle paragraph. But I think that’ll change when the older generation dies (irony!!!!) as their upbringing maybe influenced by religion and the thought that death is the worst thing imaginable. I remember when my gran died at 81, there was universal condolences which was very nice, but also a but odd. She was 81 and getting more ill, her death was timely and needed. Instead of condolences, celebrate a life well lived

I agree.

When my mum passed away at 91, I had this Ed Sheeran song played at her funeral:

I've already seen this joke more times than people who've actually been letting off fireworks.

The credit system trying to get financial help as a self employed person is not possible not even recognised even though I pay £200 in tax every week out my wages

surely they should add this to the credit scoring system especially for the self employed it’s a pure sham surely they can see how much I’m earning just through how much tax they take off.

I think the logic of CEO pay being split between salary and bonuses tied to growth in value of the business (which most are) makes sense, as they are more directly responsible for the key decision which deliver shareholder returns, however the levels are nuts for some of these companies.  Totally and utterly nuts.  This article is confusing the two things I think.

I have a question that I hope some of you can help enlighten me

last weekend after a dads night out me and a mate got an uber back. Our driver was kamal.  My mate was quite drunk. we discussed that our wives would not be impressed with our state and he asked the driver if he was married.

the response was that he had two wives. This was confusing to my friend.  Anyway, he said that his second wife was much younger than his legal wife (which was more fun) and he was thinking of taking a third next year.

he said he spent most of his time with his legal wife but a couple of days each week with the younger model!

Is this a common thing across the wider Muslim community or isolated to certain nationalities ?   And if so, are there large numbers of unattached single Muslim women in their late twenties/early thirties that cater for these second marriages ?  if so, surely that would mean a similar number of men are single and unable to find a partner within the community ?

or was he just a bullshitter ?

I don't think single men would be unable to find a partner per se.

Within their community here, I don't know, but several colleagues from work bought in wives from overseas.

I do wonder how common this practice is?

If an sig number of middle aged Muslim men were taking second wives twenty years younger than them then single men in their twenties/thirties would have to be finding partners ten/fifteen years younger than them to compensate.  As you say, bringing in wives from overseas would help in this respect.

I'm glad you added that last line.

I know lots of Muslims who, if they've got a second wife, are very good at hiding it.

I also know white English people who have got, "a bit on the side."

I don't think extramarital liaisons are much more common in Muslim UK, just cos of the faff of covering your tracks.

It's not impossible that he's heard UK residents giving it the big one about their sexual exploits and thinks this is what one of the lads does.

I despise those pair. I was merely relaying a fact, pertinent to the OPs question.

I could have gone further with such instances, including forced marriage cases, during my time working for Adult Social Care.

Of course lots of blokes have a ‘bit on the side’.  This guy said he had a second ‘sharia marriage’. That’s much more structured than a ‘bit on the side’. This is why I asked if it might be more nuanced with certain nationalities more likely to be involved rather than a widespread Muslim thing. (Which I didn’t think it was).

Ahem... they both have wives from overseas, but would object to other people doing it, was my point.
