Ditto, and ditto

You're protected by the two tier press in this country, have no fear. I know how strongly you feel about things that are two tier

It’s a bit more than that though isn’t it.

I’m not talking about a bloke stood there with a bedsheet over his head. Why would you want a 3/4 year old be subjected to the idea of death ffs? It’s a frightening enough prospect for some adults as it is.

My little nephew was on about ‘Halloween pumpkins’ the other day. He’s only 2.5. We’ve no idea where he’s got this idea from either as my brother and SIL don’t even own a TV, never mind allow the kids access to iPads etc etc.

The idea of an adult allowing a kid to become corrupted and to celebrate death ffs sickens me. Fortunately, because my bro and SIL are bible bashers, they feel the same too

I wouldn’t say Halloween is a celebration of death at all and I've never even heard anyone else say that. It's a massive stretch. As we've said commercialisation has changed it, but it's origins are in a Pagan harvest festival.

In any case I think there is plenty to be said for how badly western cultures deal with death, or more specifically don't deal with it. It is the circle of life, we all die someday. We should all talk about it more.

Don't many Christians celebrate/revere the notion that they will one day be returned to God above them anyway? Isn't that a 'celebration of death'?

It is

But how much of relevance is fireworks  being set off to actual death? 0

Around the same amount of relevance that werewolves, vampires and pumpkins have to death.

Dunno about that, would you fancy yourself in a 1 on 1 with a werewolf or a pumpkin?

I totally agree with your middle paragraph. But I think that’ll change when the older generation dies (irony!!!!) as their upbringing maybe influenced by religion and the thought that death is the worst thing imaginable. I remember when my gran died at 81, there was universal condolences which was very nice, but also a but odd. She was 81 and getting more ill, her death was timely and needed. Instead of condolences, celebrate a life well lived

Hundreds left waiting in an ambulance to be treated at Nuneaton's hospital

What's the worst hospital, in your experience?

Yeah, Samhein, where the harvest is offered to the dead.

It's very much a celebration of death. Aside from folklore and mythology, kids will go round dressed as serial killers, suicide bombers and such. This is good mentally?

For A&E, George Eliot followed by Kettering General.

For delays, GE again and LRI and Notts QMC.

The Overton window on FT is an amazing thing. lol

That people think this is a "left leaning forum" is almost beyond comprehension.

Try Gen news.

If you’re persistently right of centre you end up banned, literally.

I'm historically a Tory voter and I'm not banned, maybe it depends on the nature of the posts?

100%. People still say they’re sorry to me that my grandpa died. He died 98- would be 111 if still alive. Bloke was friends with George Orwell for god’s sake. Had a better life than I can even imagine.

Honestly think right wing culture at the moment is to basically be a bunch of victims complaining about how everybody else is getting something they aren't.
