When OK Computer came out there were bands that really benefitted from it. Early Muse and early Coldplay definitely spring to mind, regardless of what you think of them. Their influence on more alternative music is undeniable with Kid A and In Rainbows too.

You didn't say "good" influence.

 

It's a rare thing where bands get into the charts these days, it's all solo artists and vocal groups. The idea of a few different instruments playing over each other seems to be too much for people nowadays.

Same with The Strokes and The Libertines. Sometimes you need a band to come along and kick start, gets others going.

It's funny because I've never really gotten into The Strokes, but their emergence effectively killed Nu-Metal, especially in the mainstream, and I am grateful for that. It needed to happen.

Nobody gets Deep Purple or Procul Harem these days. Whiter Shade of Pale is a musical classic.
