Similar with Anne Widdicome. Horrible thing to happen to someone that I wouldn't wish on any one.

That doesn't mean I'll forget her horrendous views on gay people and pregnant prisoners though.

You do know there were lies about the pregnant prisoners issue

I’m sure I’ve noticed fewer people acknowledge me when I give way when driving in recent months. The classic you pull in, they drive past, raise a hand off their wheel to thank you. It’s all very civil and an unwritten rule in my opinion.

Is the world getting ruder or am I imagining it?!

No I've noticed this too

Possibly, but one thing is consistent; far far fewer female drivers acknowledge you when giving way.

As with all these things depends how much you want to spent. I used to have a Rocket Appartamento, but when it gave up the ghost I want ease and convenience and got the Sage Bambino Plus as the automated milk frothing sold it. It's been really good.

I've seen plenty of reviews for the Ninja and it seems a bit Jack of all traders master of none as they're trying to offer more features than can be provided for the price range they're aiming at. A decent burr grinder costs more than the machine and that's one of the main features to actually extract good coffee. That being said, all good coffee suppliers can send pre-ground coffee which would be far better than ground beans in a cheap grinder. I do have a decent grinder so buy beans, but you can a coffee subscription from ozone coffee to ship ground beans every other week for £8 and it'll be fine during that time.

That being said, James Hoffman seemed to like the Ninja and he's my go to coffee nerd that knows more about coffee that I've forgotten. He has also said similar to me that just buying pre ground beans and spending more on a better espresso machine makes more sense.

Good luck down this rabbit hole!

Just bought the Bamino Plus. Seems it comes with all the accessories you need (portafilter, tamper etc). Is there anything you;ve upgraded to that have made a particular difference? Also any tips on where you get fresh beans from would be great as I've just been used to the ones from the local Coop. Hoping to see a big upgrade.

Had exactly this the other day, 2 cars behind me just went past and forced the oncoming car onto the pavement while I sat there! (probably should have indicated tbf but that doesn't suit my narrative :giggle:)

I don't say thanks if I have right of way anyway, around parked cars, traffic calming etc. If its junctions or i'm on their side of the road then obviously yeah.

Nothing magical on the accessory front, just a puck screen to stop the granules sticking to the machine.

As for coffee, I’ve been on the below as it’s something easy going and the wife also likes it. Worth giving a few different ones a go as ozone have loads. But worth trying different origins and processes to get your preference.

perhaps they should have been looking far enough ahead for potential hazards.

is that still part of the theory test??

Well, that's just wrong. Politeness is easy. Would you ignore someone who held a door open for you?

Yes.

I wish people could be taught defensive driving during their lessons. It would make a big difference to driving.

No because they've gone out of their way to help me. Why should I thank someone for driving correctly? Would you thank someone for putting their rubbish in a bin?

It's when you have right of way, but let them through because the flow of traffic will benefit and you get no acknowledgement or maybe an impatient beep from behind.

I was was in a small village on my round which has turned into a terrible rat run and has cars parked on the narrow main street which for some bizarre reason is a bus route.

Three cars tried to get into a space where they had right of way, but couldn't clear the bus because of parked cars as the third car had dived in and was hanging it's backside out, blocking the bus so no one could move until the first two cars mounted the kerb so the third car could pull in more and let the bus through.

I'd like to say this is a rarity, but it isn't. Practically every day I see similar occurrences where sensible, courteous driving, rather than "there's a space, it's mine!", would keep everyone moving.
