Literally that - absolute abomination of a footballer - has a semi average game against one of the worst championship sides iv ever seen and all of a sudden he is having very good games and has turned it around under rowett - absolute cow pat

God we deserve everything we get if we're hoodwinked by a handful of steady games and don't upgrade on arguably the biggest problem position in the squad.

 

He has been much better recently but we've seen enough to know that he'll have a purple patch (i.e three 7/10 games) and revert to type.

The problem may be what happen with Kristiansen. I doubt we can carry 3 senior left backs so ideally we’d get rid of VK as Thomas is the better of the 2. It’s one of them, the best way to improve your squad is to sign someone better to bump the current starter down to squad member. Over the years, we have signed too many players as back up options and our starting 11 and squad has become stale and deteriorated as a result. 
 

But I can only see us signing a new starting left back and having Thomas as back up (therefore improving the squad) if VK can be binned.

Kristiansen will want to leave, I’d imagine he’ll have takers in Serie A and the Bundesliga- his PSR break even is probably about £6m off the top of my head.

I thought Thomas did okay last night, but I wish that both full backs would do a lot more to stop crosses coming in. frustrates the hell out of me.

That little? Contract until 2028 is it? Or 2029? Signed in 2023 winter so yeah, I guess he’s 3 years through now so could be getting on for that.

Rowett seems to have got some consistency out of him which is all you can ask for given the season he was having under Cifuentes.

 

Still physically one of the weakest players I’ve ever seen and up until recently was never a long-term solution- but given where we’re heading as a club he might just be OK.
