No-one moaned about Seagrave when we were winning the FA Cup or getting promoted under Enzo. It's a convenient excuse for people who can't add up our real issues - financial strategy, shocking recruitment and bizarre managerial appointments allied to a void of leadership.

For the 1000th time - no other club with world class facilities has said it's made their players worse.

I take the word of ex players who were with us over the transition over speculation on here .  I also posted some hard facts pre and post seagrave a week or so ago which got ignored.

We have had bad recruitment, style of play issues, manager issues, but it doesnt take the limelight of seagrave.

Also the word of someone who has actually ran a football club who admitted there is problems having training facilities not suitable to the level the club is at.  Seagrave is suitable for a Liverpool, Real Madrid.

There's two issues with Seagrave.

1. The loss of potential earnings, we could have extended or upgraded the stadium (so it could host gigs) etc. Generated more income and bought a little more breathing space under the stupid rules that protect the big six.

2. The cost of running the damn thing now we've fallen down to League 1.

Having a top class facility should not be an issue bar funding it. Why we've not made it worth Tigers while to move into the place with us I don't know. Their setup is far from the best and a tenant paying a bit of rent would certainly help.

Sharing with a rugby club  Don't even go there. It would kill the club.

In fairness, the article does go on to mention "mismanagement at every level" but fully agree with what you've said. It's just always going to be so hard to come to terms with the decline and the position of strength we were in only 5-6 years ago.

Why because the players might learn something about physicality and commitment?

Doesn't really matter, just a paying tenant to take on the financial load.

Tigers are skint and loss making - there is no way any kind of contribution from them would help us in the real world - the operating cost impact of another 50 staff and players churning up Seagrave daily would require a substantial cash injection every month from the Tigers.

I've got visions of Top smashing the Seagrave Building with a big tree branch ala Basil Fawlty shouting it's not you Jon, you're not the problem

Almost into the off season but maybe they can run Sunday car boot sales on some of the pitches.

Just don't let rudders go or he'll end up paying £200 for a James bond dvd set with half the discs missing etc

20 years ago there were lengthy discussions regarding sharing the Walkers (as was) and they went nowhere because neither side would make any concession as to what would happen if there were fixture clashes amongst other issues. I picked up the Tigers representative Matt Poole the night the talks were called off and, in short, both sides thought they were vastly bigger than the other.

Niche stat, Tigers have the record attendance for a game at the KP.

Culture eats strategy for breakfast. When that is allowed to slip, what should be a massive asset and a positive can be turned in to a negative. Seagrave should be the nerve center for producing the very best talent (it is to a degree doing its job there in the academy) but for a first team so rudderless for the majority of the last 5 years it's harboured an alarming decline.

The facilities itself have not caused this, but the environment for which the players find themselves in have added to the complete dysfunctionality and disconnect.

Then when you add in the sheer cost to run it when we are as low and financially struggling as we are then it adds insult to injury.

Spot on. The one thing we no longer have.

Culture + behaviour = results. If you can create a culture in which each member of the team is made responsible not just for their own performance and behaviours, but for spurring on those around them, you will have a team which self-polices behaviours and performances. Works in sport as it does in business.

Indeed - having the world class facility isn't the issue it is the behaviour of the users. I don't see other clubs in major decline when they train in world class facilities, but the club culture has clearly slipped massively over the past 4/5 years.

Tight-fisted Foxes make players pay

Cash-strapped Leicester are charging their own players to stay in the hotel at their luxurious training ground.

Leicester opened the £100million Seagrave base in December 2020 with the idea of having hotel rooms to accommodate new signings and players who lived outside the area.

Midfielder Harry Winks was famously axed by previous manager Ruud van Nistelrooy for refusing to stay overnight and commuting 100 miles to training each day, following the birth of his daughter.

With the League One side laden with debt and up for sale, multiple sources have told talkSPORT Foxes stars are now expected to pay to stay at the hotel.

It is believed the club is charging their stars a nightly rate of around £80.

Will be interesting to see if there's any fall out from this. Any player whinging about this is a diva and can go.

Absolute non-story as it stands. Anyone wanting to stay there (unless a guest) should be paying to cover the fees that we'd be spending on cleaning/laundry for those rooms.

If it deters some players from regularly staying as opposed to buying a house locally then even better.
