Anyone looked at the AEK team yet and concluded if they've rested many players?

They’ve got a 17 year old lad Mario Mitaj starting, making a European debut, other than that they appear to be full strength.

Loving that team. Mild concern about no Maddison on the bench but that back 4 and midfield 5 is what I'd be starting right now anyway and then with Vardy for Kelechi.

Am I mistaken or is Tavares NOT on the bench?

Deepest sympathies Ric!

Looks like they have made 5 changes from the team they put out at the weekend

They are also playing 352

Also playing 3-5-2? are we?

Ward

Ndidi Evans Fofana

Justin Tielemans Praet Thomas Barnes

Under Ihenacho

4-3-3 lines up easier from the selection, but I'm not Brendan.

I concluded that nobody has ever paid to have ‘88 Vasilantonopoulos’ on the back of their shirt!

Probably cost just a bit more than having Taylor-Fletcher on your shirt, but at least you can get his name on a 4XL shirt which is what GTF would wear

I think it’s the classic Christmas Tree formation, getting into the seasonal spirit and all that.

Ahh I didn't mean as if we are playing 352 as well, I meant as in addition to the amount of players they changed, they are playing 352 haha

I think we are playing 433/4141

4 at the back

3 in the mid

2 in front of them

Iheanacho as the striker

(repeat to fade)

Where’s stringer?

To ask this in two separate threads makes me think you might be stringer....

4-3-3. Nice. Good attacking intent there with that front 3 and the 3-man midfield including Youri. I expect him to dominate that area with Ndidi just deeper supporting him. When Mendy's played, Youri has also sat deeper and tried to run the game from there. Hopefully with Ndidi's protection and presence, Youri can flourish further up the field.

James Maddison has a slight knee issue which is the reason he isn’t in the squad tonight.

From what I hear he should be ok for Sunday.

Chorley FM have put in a bid and he’s downed tools. He’s aiming to force through a move and be coming in someone else’s ears in January.

Liking that Brendan.

                            Ward

JJ    Fofana Ndidi Evans Praet Thomas

             Under  Tielemans  Barnes

                           Nacho

Got the attacking threat of Hamza for Brendan to bring on in the 75th minute if we are a goal down.

Good vibes.

Comparing tonight's line-up to how they did so against Panathinaikos at home on Sunday, there's 6 of the same players starting the match, including the goal-keeper.

So I'd hazard a guess they've kept some strength in the team but changed it up a bit still.

It's even more changed compared to their line-up at home to Braga last week.

Happy with that. Think 433 is a long term formation for us, with Maddison having a free role. Looking forward to seeing the front 3, but they need to improve on their showing in the Ukraine. I would have been tempted to play Perez the middle to see if he can build some momentum. Surely we should win this comfortably.
