The ‘ITK’ that said we’re going after him as priority was full of it then

There’s a difference between going for a player and getting them, no?

clearly motivated by money and his statement showed that. Don’t think anyone ever said it was a done deal

Yes he was lol

This! The guy has never got anything right but people continue to believe him. If Rakitskiy doesn’t sign his reputation as an ITK should be ruined. People will still believe his next cryptic post though.

He will get accused of being all about the money, maybe he is but if the choice was playing for West Brom in the Championship or playing for a season or two in Saudi on big money then I know what I'd choose lol no doubt will be back in Europe within a couple of seasons.

This cost me £15 🤦🏻‍♂️

Beginning to think some of our itk’s are tree shakers for betting companies and I’m the silly fruit that dropped (a bet).

I’m amazed no premier league club went in for him.

Or they did and couldn't compete with the 100k (with no tax) a week wage?

I can see the attraction from a financial point of view, but it’s not what professional footballers grow up dreaming of, is it? He’ll also be out of the shop window for his next move.

His statement said a move "that could change his and his families life forever", likely refers to this one.

20 weeks should be plenty for all of them. Then he’s twiddling his thumbs in the desert. Oh well, that’s what he was chosen. Good luck to him.

If it was the choice between 100k tax free in Suadi or maybe 30/40k after tax in England I think I would have made the same decision. Fair play to him, most of us can only dream of such wealth.

Life in the Middle East isn't so bad when your rich... most of the rules don't apply to you. Plus almost no one actually lives full time in Saudi who works there. They have a second home in somewhere like the UAE and only stay in Saudi when they are working. It's really not such a bad life.

....if we were really after him, I am sure he would have jumped at the chance!!!

Our attention was elsewhere and the biggest surprise to me, was other teams were not beating down the WBA door for his services. Maybe he ends up like Ghezzal, where he goes to a lesser league and puts up ridiculous numbers. The only difference would be he proved he can play in the Premiership.

Essentially if him and his agent are willing to make this move then I'd question his character, and why no one who were mooted in the Prem decided to make a move.

if someone offers to increase my wages 5 fold, I don’t care if my boss rescued me from a burning fire, I’d be off like a shot. Footballers careers are short  and what they earn has to set them up for life as they give their best young years to it.

i wouldn’t blame him for taking 6m a year. Especially if it’s essentially tax free.

.....I wonder how that works in reality!!!

Are the payments put in offshore accounts or into existing accounts, and as a resident of the country he becomes exempt from taxation. British sportsmen and women live in tax havens, Hamilton and Paula Radcliffe, I believe, live in Monaco but are restricted in their stay in Britain else they would be taxed excessively.

I suspect their are ways of avoiding a tax on his income, and all it requires is a bit of creativity. I suspect the players living in this country have some way of minimizing the amount of tax that they have to pay. But it would be interesting to see how the system works over there.

Fair enough. My morals go out of the window when there's enough money on the line. I'll probably end up in Saudi in the next few years for a big pay day and I won't lose any sleep over it. Yes I'm aware I'm an awful person lol

Totally fair mate. My morals are not for you to worry about. Honestly mine are still not great, I'd defo sell my soul if it was UAE. I just draw the line slightly earlier than you do 😂

To be fair there's every chance I'll back out and go to the UAE instead. Saudi sounds great when you see the numbers on the contract but when it comes to getting on the plane it might be different lol
