I understand his points but he comes across a bit of a whiner, should of kept off social media and dealt with this behind closed doors. what a clown.

In fairness, he’s only done this because WBA came out and essentially said he is being unprofessional, not committed to the club or the playing in the Championship. The whole thing is stupid, makes everyone look bad.

Everyone involved would be better off if they kept it quiet.

In the UK he will miss 60% in tax and NI, in Saudi he won't. £20m compared to £8m over 5 years might be life changing.

Not quite, footballers tend to take home about 54% of their annual salary with the other 46% income tax and NIC. That's their standard employed wages. Image rights and other stuff is different.

I'm not going to waste my time reading that. You must remember the writing campaign of our own Wes jr. last summer? :)

Could well end up here. He wants out and WBA know that they really can’t afford to have him on the books and him not want to be there. Like flair says we might work a deal out and then send Sowah on loan. Which works for all parties and potentially WBA pocket some money and don’t need to spend it on a winger.

Why would west ham want him they already have Benrama who is pretty similar.

He plays on the left, where as MP plays on the middle/right.

They probably see him as the Lingard fallback if they don’t sign him.

I’d find this very underwhelming if it happened. I don’t think he’s a big upgrade at all.

Me too, but pretty much everyone else on here seem to think he the dogs goolies, so I'm just hoping if he does come here, they're right.

The assists/goals of Maddison (there or there abouts) and the workrate of Okazaki... What's not to like?

I just hope we sign him in time for Friday night.

I'm going out with my West Brom mate, to watch them v Bournemouth who absolutely raves about him.

I can just sit there all smug, let him know we've got their best player, we're playing at Wembley on Saturday, and if that fails, just talk about how many times Sir Jamie wound up the Brummie Rd end so many times, as me and him sat in there. 😄

Never forgave him when we sat in SK3 a few years back, when Cambiaso steered one into his own net and he just kept giggling to himself and nudging me.😄😄

Sounds exactly like perez did before he joined, no? I dont think he’s bad, but he’s not going to set the world alight. He’s not an out and out winger and we’ve seen the issues that causes. He feels like the sort of player we’d need to upgrade again in a year or 18 months time.

11 goals and 6 assists in his first prem season playing for an awful WBA team...

Yeah good numbers on the front of it, but 4 of those goals were penalties and he wouldn’t be taking those here. He was also the main attacking outlet for the team and received the ball all the time. As I say, his number are worse than Perez’s at Newcastle in only a slightly worse team. He’s also an attacking midfielder being played on the wing which is the same issue as perez. He’s good at set pieces, left footed which gives us different options but he’s just nothing too special.

The problem with special is it would cost the club an arm and a leg and we are not in the 50 million market. Pereira is a solid quality player at an affordable price.

Perez got 12 for Newcastle the season before we signed him

While I have been in favor of a move for MP, I cannot help but note he scored 2 goals and had 3 assists playing as a RW last season, according to transfermarkt. https://tinyurl.com/8uwnrthc

Gives me pause, certainly. 25 mill is ridiculous on spec. Hard to see an outright purchase at that price, though I could see offering a package with extras that approximated that if he comes in and does the job for us. Say 15 mill and then another 10 in extras if he can give us, IDK, 12-6, something around there.

EDIT: that said, he is so much more technically adept compared to Ayoze, it just makes much more sense imagining him cutting inside to rampage off the RW. He can break down a low block. Yes, he is arguably at his best in the middle, but he can at least attack the way Mahrez used to, and if Maddison gets hurt, he is someone who can also play as an AM. IDK, he plays all over fairly competently, but you make a fair point in your post, I admit.
