The game truly is rotten when even fans would pick money over winning the FA Cup.

We get on well, but you're framing this in a way that I don't think is either fair or true.

Head says CL for the money and player retention.

It's also about player attraction though.

Not sure players will be scrambling to leave us if we don't make top four this season.

Not sure some of the players we want will be scrambling to join us either.

I was just momentarily triggered by seeing some fans say finishing 4th is more important than winning the FA Cup

I get the importance of UCL football. The extra money, the potential of attracting a better player or 2 in the summer, but having Leicester City etched on the FA Cup that will out live us all, is such a bigger deal IMO.

Imagine seeing us lift the trophy tomorrow. It would be truly crazy

I think both are immensely important.

Looks like Soumare is already about done and Edouard I can see happening with or without UCL. Gosens could fall through, but only if another Champs League club comes in and offers wages similar or better than Leicesters. Pereira from WBA would sign for us either way too IMO. Those are the players that we have been heavily linked with so far and we are probably looking at another CB maybe. Tarkowski I think was talked about, another one who I don't think would expect to go to a UCL team.

So I don't think not getting UCL will hit us too bad in the transfer market, with the those types of players. It will of course hit our potential budget though and have a debatable impact on our medium growth as a club. Players like Tielemans may start to have their head turned going into next season as well, but I think that is always going to happen with players of his calibre as he will be wanting to win the Champions League in the future, not just be in it.

There are clear benefits and it will be only positives for us being involved in the UCL, but I don't think it will necessarily have the huge negative impact that some are suggesting if we don't get in. Still think we can beat Chelsea on Tuesday though!

but which do you want more?

I don't think it either matters or makes the slightest difference :) Especially if it causes unnecessary argument between like minded people.

It’s a fair argument in my opinion. It’s not a much about money, it’s the overall progression the competition can give you. Yes the financial reward is great, which in turn allows for the squad, ground and club in general to heavily re-invest in itself. After all we are a self sufficient club, so such a progression would hugely benefit us

We will get an annual shot at the FA cup, and with the revenue gained from the CL, and potential to add to the squad we could be much better equipped to deal with the extra domestic competitions in the future.

We might not win tomorrow, and I don’t think we will, but, I do think we will win the FA cup in the next few years... however, on the flip side.... an FA cup and top six finish would be an excellent season too.

The UL even though not very sexy, is a competition we could make more of a challenge for with a deeper squad. So, theoretically we could win it.

So if I said to you now, we will win the FA cup, but finish 5th. But next season we will win the UL, and finish 5th what would you think to that?

This is merely the beginning of our climb to the top. Won’t happen over night with us, but season by season we will improve a little more.

I’m not playing this game!

I understand why some people want to, but it isn’t for me.

I’m not engaging in a made-up choice between two hypothetical successes!

If we win the cup I’ll be over the moon.

If we get into the Champions League I’ll  be over the moon.

We might do both. If so I’ll be over the moon twice.

We might do neither. If so I’ll be feeling very glum for a bit. But by the start of next season I’ll be ready to get behind the team (maybe even in person - that’d be nice!) as they try again.

But mainly I’m going to enjoy my club being quite good, and being in the mix for these things, for as long as it lasts. I’d say this is what I dreamed of through all the years of crap, but to be honest I didn’t even dream of it - I never thought it was a possibility.

Just enjoy tomorrow. Enjoy us being there.

Enjoy the last two league games. Enjoy that the club of such greats as Tom English, Rob Johnson, Junior Lewis and Levi Porter is right up there with the big boys and even has a chance of the Champions League. Because when you think of it like that, it’s amazing.

Come on you blue boys!

For the fanbase and this group of players/staff it has to be a cup win

for the immediate future of the club, a top four finish is preferable

there is no right/wrong answer

just enjoy the day because winning tomorrow will make no difference to whether we make top four but losing badly tomorrow could do ....

I don't think that this is necessarily true or realistic.  At the top end of the table we are competing with clubs that have double or even triple our turnover.  These are halcyon days but it's not forever.  In the PL era fans of Blackburn, Leeds or Aston Villa might have been lulled into thinking that they had broken into the elite but history shows us that football is cyclical.

I don't want to bring a downer on the eve of such an auspicious occasion but this is why it is so important to make hay while the sun shines and have something tangible to show for what is arguably our greatest ever era and if we recognise that it is fleeting we might just learn to appreciate it more?

Absolutely on the money right here. This is exactly the reason some on here don’t like my opinions when I say how it’ll be a failure if we drop out the top 4 for a 2nd season running and lose in the final.

Exactly how you say it, you have to make the most of cycles because we’re competing against juggernauts. We have to show something tangible to look back on this era with fondness.

I completely disagree. Yes we’re competing against teams with huge backing, but the way we conduct ourselves as a club means that over a period of time we can build to eventually compete at that level.

We’ve been selling one asset a season for record fees over the last few years... our recruitment has improved dramatically since the title winning season, and looks to be improving even more with the players set to come in.

We have the finest training complex in Europe and ambitions of being there. This is why finishing in European places consistently is so important to us, we can generate our own funding.

You don’t have to be a club wadded to the eyeballs with money to succeed, makes it a lot easier for those clubs but it’s not the only way. Just look at Germany? Smaller clubs with budgets akin to ours compete with Bayern Munich season after season.

We are a superbly run club, with an excellent recruitment policy and an owners that stand behind their manager and staff.

We set a blueprint out for ourselves to be successful when we blew the world away by winning the league.

This club is going places, and I absolutely guarantee over the next few season we will do something remarkable again.

People are crazy, we have never won the FA cup success and winning things breeds success, if I had to choose, id choose the FA cup, as apart from the glory, its a big monkey off our backs, an could be the catalyst to not only ensure CL football this season, but continue to regularly challenge and make CL. Even when we made, CL we lost Kante to a team that didn't have CL that season, players look at the bigger picture not just one season.

Well I’m still not playing the choose between them game, coz (a) they’re very different things and (b) it isn’t an either/or thing, but one thing is true - there is no way on earth clinching fourth place in the league could ever have my entire family leaping around the living room like idiots, screaming and hugging each other!
