Key scout Jose Fontes possibly leaving the recruitment team

Not too worried about him leaving, we have had plenty of supposed key members of the scouting team leave over the years and we still continue to find quality and bargains

Still believe it is the system that makes it all successful rather than a few individuals

Spurs, Arsenal and Everton have all nicked our scouts over the last few years, I think we’ll be fine.

Bordeaux nicked Macia and a couple of our scouts as well

No doubt we have someone lined up behind Fontes who can just as easily step into his role

From the outside looking in our great strength isn't necessarily scouting most the footballing world knew about youri Tilemans or daka. Our great strength seems to be being able to get the deals done, quickly and for a good price. for instance Soumaré had one year left on his contract so we've managed to (hopefully) get him over the line for cheaper than his market value.

You'd be a bit fearful leaving Leicester if you were involved in scouting/recruitment/analysis, nearly every one that's been nabbed by other clubs in the last 5 years have been bombed out of those clubs very quickly. It don't get any better than here baby.

Maybe they're backed a bit better at Leicester and their opinions are valued.

Didn't go too well for Steve Walsh at Everton if the rumours are true that he lined up talented players and then got knocked back

I am not knocking the work Walsh did here, but he always makes out that every good signing was his, every bad signing was over his objections, and boy did he ever almost sign ever amazing player before being stopped by the higher ups. I always take his interviews with a grain of salt.

Owners with a vision, a clear philosophy, empowerment to make decisions below board level and a positive working environment to operative in is why our scouting system has been successful in recent years.

Look at Man Utd for example they have recruited some of the of the most reputable world wide scouts since Fergie left and their recruitment has been a shambles. They recruited Javier Ribalta the chief from Juventus and he left after 12 months, saying there was no philosophy and no empowerment below the Glaziers to make decisions.

Club's almost appear to want a singular scout to come in a recreate the entire Leicester environment. Then end up disappointed when they seem to realise it isn't the individual that makes our scouting system brilliant
