....I think the inclusion of Alves, Braybrooke, Brunt in U23s and first teams games has disrupted the whole camaraderie of this team!!!

Great to see them progress so well, but the knock on effects has not been good.

Brunt’s 21 but agree regarding the other two

Brunt is 21, Braybrooke has been in the under 23s all season, and other than a couple of appearances earlier in the season Alves has spent the majority of the season also in the under 23s

They have been doing really well without both of Braybrooke and Alves all season in the league

It's not that, they were absolutely flying all year in the league without Nelson, Braybrooke and Alves and its only since that late goal from Man Utd in the FA Youth Cup that seems to have knocked them for 6. Not won a league game since.

How in the world did our 23s lose to Wake Forest. What did we do play the third string. Beaglehole out!:)

Seriously, Spring Break season is 6 weeks long (different universities do it different weeks), it might be a thought to do a friendly series with US universities on tour (following the Wake Forest Twitter, they had a pretty full week). Content for LCFC TV, games for the 3rd string, more exposure in the US market.

But 4-0 means our U23's didn't take it seriously, and I didn't really recognise anyone.

Thanks for the explanation. I'm just kidding of course(comment) but it is nice to see American football get exposure to the game over here. We need it to show where the American game is truly at and what we need to aspire to.

How pissed off must Brendan be that wes caught covid ?   he could have played 45 mins in this game.

I expect it’s been pointed out to him that it may not have been the best idea to do that group visit last weekend !

Petty wouldn't pick a striker if his life depended on it.

Just seen this photo and made me think Calvin Bassey looks like he was a big loss he’s been excellent since joining Rangers especially in the recent games vs Dortmund

He’s also been utter stinking in some. Looked awful v Celtic in the recent old firm game

Semi final of the Premier league Cup tommorow night for the 18s against Fulham.

Buzzing to see Alves ect at the new training ground stadium.

Alves needs a 35 yard ripsnorter IMO, we need the hype ramping up again.

I hope he doesn’t feel a bit deflated after his cameo v Watford and then not making any squads/benches, even when there was room

he shouldn’t but then again he’s very young -  got to hope he has good people around him

Agreed, if the club rate him as highly as they say they do and there's a real show of willing in order to prevent such a prospect from leaving before he can sign a professional deal then why not have him on the bench for these European games? We are naming 8-9 subs rather than the full 12 and it's a missed opportunity at good public relations with the player.

...would getting him on the bench and not playing him becomes more like putting a carrot infront of a very hungry and starving horse!!!

If he never gets on, it just becomes a tease and hard to bear as nothing will come of it. Watching him play for the U23s recently there was a point where he was challenged from behind and went down on his back( he would have got a foul and a freekick if it was the U18s), the referee waved play on, he still laid there, then eventually picked himself up and got on with the game. Right there you could see the jump to age and level was too much especially the physical aspect of it.

We all may be excited to see him come through, but we might need to bring him through slowly and allow him to develop his skills and become confident with what he does. He has a tendency to stay on the ball and by doing so, he turns 360 degrees and is very much a move that he is perhaps now become over reliant on. You have to be looking to bring other players in and be aware of who is around you, but he tends to be very much heads down in his play.

Not going to argue with any of that but will the people around him explain that to him ?? He’s probably too young to appreciate all of this.  Sometimes the advisors and parents don’t carry what might be described as the best footballing interests of the kid and are looking at him as a cash cow (in the case of advisors) and parents can often be ……. Well, parents !

to add that this is not meant in alves case - it’s a generalisation

im just musing as to why his levels seem to have dropped off a bit

If you read his most recent interview he is very grateful for the opportunity to step up to U23's and to be involved in the first team as with each step up he has to adapt and improve his game. It was very interesting and he knows his insane skill and showboating can only be done if its the right environment, if not he has to adapt.

You might be right about whether there's any point to simply having him on the bench but Randers at home when 4-1 up there's scope for him to get some minutes and same in the 2nd leg. The further we get it's unlikely we're going to be 3+ goals to the good on aggregate to perhaps risk minutes for minutes sake for such a player but its all good for him as I'm expecting him to be a first team player inside 18 months or less.

You can't have a player in the squad for Europe unless he's on a pro contract.

Well fcukin bollocks then 😂😂😂😂

I didn't know that, so no player under the age of 17 can play European football?

Youssoufa Moukoko played for Dortmund about 8 days after turning 16 in the Champions League? Do Germany allow their 16 year old to sign pro deals before their 17 to get around this?

This might be a stupid question but does he have school? Maybe they don’t want to pull him out if there’s no real chance of him playing

Don't know but thats what I was told. Saying that we had Nelson in the squad last year before he was on a pro I think so it may well be bollocks.
