Article on Braybrooke in today's Mercury. He'll be off on loan next season, best way to facilitate that and peak the best possible clubs interest is give him a few games before the end of the season and hype him up.

Maybe but doesn't look ready to play in the PL at the moment, most I can see it maybe a cameo as a sub.

Yeah I think he's possibly a touch too lightweight but then again so was Luke Thomas and he handled it well. I just think these final 6 PL games is a real opportunity to give 1 or 2 a few games which could be invaluable to their progression.

Gut feeling is he signs a new deal and goes on loan to the Championship. We must realise he's a several million pound player with just one more seasons progression which is important if he isn't considered worthy of inclusion in our 1st team.

I'd like to see him as a backup for Maddison to keep him fresh but maintain our style of play and not have to drop back and defend deeply or rely on KDH to play too often in multiple roles. Probably just a bit too early for him though and if he isn't ready then it risks stunting his development. Shame really as if we take the risk it could be worth it.

Play him out of position wide right then? 😂

If Braybrooke is given a chance he would have a break through performance similar to Luke’s debut, i’m sure of it. Just being surrounded by better players will help carry him to the next level.

His ability to pass forward and spray long diagonal balls is something we’re lacking in midfield.

KDH, Maddison & Braybrooke in rotation next season please!  (And Sangare, Ndidi, Mendy/Choudhury as our DM options).

Rodgers talks about having a strong track record at bringing young players through and he's certainly better than some managers, but if this crop of youngsters are as promising as we think they are then I wonder what needs to happen for him to give 1 or 2 a chance, never mind several.

It's very unlikely that a PL manager does bring through several at any one time so whatever we say about a lot of these going on to play for us regularly is highly unlikely but I'm even trying to think of the situation where Rodgers will play them. He's never looked to try academy players in Europe and the only ones he's played more than briefly who weren't already established is Luke Thomas and Dewsbury-Hall, who's nearly 24.

When you have 25 senior players then it's either they are so exceptional at U23 level that you cannot ignore them or there's an injury crisis (right up our alley) that leaves you little choice. We've had a lot of those but it's not really seen this current crop get a chance yet.

I'd like to see either Braybrooke and/or Wanya Marca get a chance in the PL before the season is finished, it's not unreasonable to do so given all we are playing for is place money and developing 1 or 2 academy players in an area where he's claiming KDH and Tielemans can't have a rest isn't going to be detrimental to where we finish.

Otherwise I don't see what better opportunity any academy player is going to get in the next year if right now isn't a genuine possibility to blood 1 or 2.

This season was the perfect opportunity to promote some youngsters, given our hectic schedule and injuries.

Sadly it hasn’t really happened yet. It’s good that some of the lads have been involved in first team training and cup squads but there was a real opportunity to give some of our talented youngsters more than just a one off cameo against Watford. Braybrooke or Wanya playing as a RCM could have been a good option.

Hopefully what Petty said earlier in the week is true, in regards to one or two being involved in the first team next season. I hope its Braybrooke & Alves but I have a feeling Brendan is more likely to promote someone like Lewis Brunt.

Going to be a interesting summer, without European football next summer we'll have less money to spend, a rebuild of sorts required and the need to have a smaller squad in which case trying and incorporate a few of the academy players in to focus on quality rather than quantity in the rebuild.

Leicester City set Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall pathway for talented teenage midfielder
The latest Leicester City news from LeicestershireLive as Brendan Rodgers gives his thoughts on young City midfielder Sammy Braybrooke, who was included in the squad for the PSV ties

ByJordan Blackwell

Sammy Braybrooke could take the same route as Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall as Leicester City look to prepare the midfielder for the first team.

Braybrooke is one of the most promising talents in City’s academy, and has played an integral role for the Under-23s this season as well as captaining the Under-18s in their run to the FA Youth Cup quarter-finals. That has earned him first-team recognition, and the 18-year-old was included in Brendan Rodgers’ squad for both legs of the Europa Conference League quarter-final against PSV Eindhoven.

That experience was to help Braybrooke get used to a first-team environment as the club set out a pathway for him. The next step is a loan spell, says Rodgers, who was at Seagrave to watch Braybrooke and the Under-23s as they lost their penultimate Premier League 2 fixture 4-0 to Liverpool on Monday night.

Dewsbury-Hall has proven that loans are effective for preparing a player for the Premier League, having impressed at Blackpool and Luton before his breakthrough City campaign this term. He did not get his chance in the EFL until he was 21 though, and Rodgers suggests Braybrooke is ready to go out on loan at 18.

“He probably needs experience of playing some league football,” Rodgers said when asked what the next step would be for Braybrooke. “At the moment he’s a player that’s progressing very, very well. He’s captain of England Under-18s, he’s got a wonderful football brain, he passes the ball well, can play through the lines really well.

“We brought him to PSV to give him that big-game experience, so he could be around it. But I think over the short and medium term, he will continue to play through to the end of the season, and then hopefully there’ll be a loan spell for him, similar to what there was with Kiernan, where he goes out and plays football for real. Then you can assess it from there.”

It has been a promising year for City’s academy, both in their results and their progression. Despite fielding a young team across the season, the Under-23s need just a point in their final game against Crystal Palace to guarantee a top-half finish in Premier League 2.

Rodgers has been able to introduce a few of the prospects to the first team as well. He already has academy graduates Dewsbury-Hall, Harvey Barnes, Hamza Choudhury, and Luke Thomas in his ranks, but this season has also handed senior debuts to Kasey McAteer, Wanya Marcal-Madivadua, and Will Alves.

I like to Brunt, Maswanhise, Marçal-Madivadua, Braybrooke, Alves and Wormleighton get some minutes.

Not much faith in us winning the ECL then @Ric Flair

I think we have a lot of talent in the ranks, how much have the like of Barnes, Thomas and KDH saved the club.

It all about balance, knowing who ready for being with the first team and who need a loan.

Sometime having less to spend make you more lean and causes you to do the right things

I'm quietly confident, I think we really need European football again too otherwise squad rebuilding will be harder but so will getting past Roma and winning the final.

Yeah, he needs to move on. He and Thanawat are the only U21s currently playing with the U23's, and the mantra there seems to be "go younger."

We cerainly need to clear the decks of players who we don't think can make the first team to make room for new recruits. I don't think we're necessarily going for younger players per say, But more to do with joinging the big clubs and signing up better quality players. To do that we need to go younger as that's where the untapped talent is.

The majority of the older players are already signed by the big clubs like Chelsea, Arsenal etc.

Barnes, DKH and Thomas must have saved us 100 million at least so far and possibly more as they develop further.

General consensus on here is an academy player is not ready for the PL until he is 23 but an 18 y.o  playing in the Dutch league is more than ready. That is some truly bizarre thinking.

Pleased to here that but then some suggest we should shove Wright out on loan again! He is either PL ready now or he never will be. Leshabala, Hirst and Wright should be made available for transfer this summer and we should stop stringing them along. If Clode had one virtue he was not afraid to blood teenagers like Fofana for instance.

Nah, Wright should have a season at Championship level on loan first.

Wright is physically ready for anything the PL can throw at him. He has been kicked from pillar to post in Div.1 after all. Is he technically good enough? I don't know but if he isn't now he probably never will be.

I raise you Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

I think his year at Luton may have cost us a useful weapon last year. It did benefit him no doubt but he is 24 this year and in football terms that is not so young. The big problem is our first team squad is overstuffed with very highly paid bit part players who are going nowhere until somebody offers them an equal or better contract.

ridiculous post! Why would you sell a player when he’s excelled at every level so far? If he goes to the championship and has an incredible season, he either is deemed good enough to join our first team or his value has increased massively. You don’t sell a player on an upward trajectory.

Hirst is a slightly different issue simply because he’s not on a youth team wage.  We are paying him about 11k a week, so a big decision needs to be made with him.

My real point is not about ability , that is subjective, its about age. These players go drifting about on loan until their early twenties. There comes a time when you have to make your mind up.
