Idiots think he tells the players to hoof it ! Yep , idiots .
He’s a decent man who’s hands are tied by above . Loans etc tie his team up also . Let’s see how Ben gets on now he’s in charge.

I have a lot of respect for what you post about the academy but you can't try and pin the style of football of Beaglehole's teams on the powers above. The style of football was completely out of sync with not only the 1st team but also the younger age groups, that was what was so baffling. It's no wonder any of the attacking and creative players from the U18's that had done so well then never got a sniff at U23's, there's very little other explanation for it.

This is long overdue and it's going to be interesting to see how the academy develops. I agree that the powers above are the ones to blame for the lack of priority on the academy in terms of recruitment and investment and Beaglehole can't be held accountable if and when this inevitably improves now that Rodgers has demanded it.

If Rodgers trusts Beaglehole's judgement, I can see him having a new job role as 'individual development coach' or similar - that's a role that lots of PL clubs are creating to improve the link between first team and U23s.

....there were no problems with loaning players out trying to win the U23s league!!!

The focus as we can now see, is that players were going out on loan far, far too late, and that is either at the request of the club or Beaglehole himself. We are now looking to change that policy, of holding on to players with potential and as you can see, the players themselves are looking to jump ship in order to progress their careers.

Sorry.....the nuclear bomb referred to a photo of him at the training ground yesterday.

My understanding is that he has been removed from his role as U23s manager and Ben Petty has replaced him. i don't think there has been any official confirmation yet of this change or Beagleholes new role at the club.

...I thought this had been agreed before the start of last season, but I was surprised to see Beaglehole still in his position when the season started!!!

Thank you - and that sounds very promising! Fingers, as they say...

Wonder what SB will be left to do?

....I believe it was to be something to do with managing the U23 who were not going to be part of the First team and not in the U23 squad, something convoluted like that!!!

Bit of an interesting one that...?

if they're not going to be part of the 1st team and they're not even in the U23 squad....what exactly are they doing and why are they still with us?

Aside form players returning from injuries (which would be the responsibility of the Physios and medical staff), I cant imagine there would be too many U23 players who wouldn't even make the squad as that would suggest they shouldn't still be here anyway....so it must be referring to those who are considered too good for the U23s, in which case, isn't it best for them to be out on loan gaining experience?

Only players i can think of that might fall into this gap are Thomas, KDH & Eppiah (possibly Tavares?) all of whom are technically gifted and have largely benefitted from avoiding playing for Beaglehole

KDH spent four years in the u23's before he got his first loan

Does anyone know what’s happening with Josh Eppiah? Doesn’t seem to be involved with us over pre season. A sad waste of talent at the hands of unfortunate injuries.

Thanks for keeping us in the loop. That's absolutely criminal what's happened to KDH. Not only for him financially and developmentally but also the club. Hoping that we've turned the corner now and have finally realized how a Club in the top 20 in the world is run. Finally.

In fairness to LCFC, its impossible to ever know if delaying his loans was the right or wrong decision at that time.

It might be that he has benefitted from not going out sooner.....or it might be that it delayed his progress by 2 years but that can never be tangibly measured.

All we do know is that if he makes it, it will be considered the right decision regardless.....and lets hope he does make it through.

2.5 full seasons years to be precise (Aug'17 - Jan'20)....although he did make 2 starting appearances in the final fixtures of the 2016/17 season.

He had loan enquiries rejected in Aug'18, Jan'19 & Aug'19..

I'll always thought of Petty as someone more up for Beagleball than the main man himself. This is purely from sitting behind the dugout hearing him shout instructions a few times and my perception of his 'bull dog type' general demeanor - so I may be wrong!

...as you have said previously, we do not know if keeping him in the U23s for so long was a good thing or not!!!

Just watching him interact with the other players in the U23s, he did not come across as loud, someone who could take command but he knew what he was doing on the pitch.

He gets a chance for a loan and someone he hasn't met before tells him, they have no finance to sign him but he is someone right now who can impact their team and maybe the finance will be there at the end of the season to do a deal. Imagine the push that something like that would give you, someone from outside the club, not coming from your parents or your mates trying to lift you up.

He has been a revelation on loan and this will be a big season for him, and the extra two and a half years might have been a chance for him to mature. He might also have felt that he should be two years further along, and the club has robbed him of this. I do not know him, never met him but he appears to take things as they come, sometimes you have got to take a stand for yourself in order to move forward, and if he had taken the route that Tavares is now taking, I wonder what the opinion of the fan base would have been two and a half years ago.

A good battering to start the season…

...you never know, with all the activity with bringing in players in this age group, Rodgers might  have insisted we play the same style as the first team!!!

You could be pleasantly surprised. Imagine the U18s and U23s playing out from the back with the ball on the floor, it is a long overdue dream but could become a potential reality.

Considering we played as if we didn't have a midfield last season it it quite a challenging one to picture!

If that ends up with passes across the back 4 , forward to midfield, back again, and repeat endlessly while the opposition defence have all the time in the world to regroup ... be careful what you wish for.

Reminds me of a certain french manager's style of football

...if there is one think Rodgers keeps reaffirming, is that he wants us to be braver trying to play through the lines!!!

You need to have the players comfortable on the ball at the back to do so and the midfield comfortable to receive the ball in crowded areas. That is what he is trying to foster and frustrates him in most games.

You've clearly never met him then???

I can assure you that most people who have WORKED with him and most people who know him from within the professional game DO NOT share your opinion...!

Brendan Rodgers definitely knows how a professional clubs youth set up should be run.....do you think its just a coincidence that this long overdue change that folk have been calling for for many years has happened so shortly after someone with the foresight and credibility of Rodgers has taken charge at the club??

The simple answer is that Rodgers now has as much credibility and influence with the owners as Rudkin does.....and Rudkin was Beagleholes sole protector for too many years.

Absolutely not true. Complete nonsense 👍

There’s a line between valid criticism and personal attacks. We passed it along ago.

Complete nonsense mate. He’s a solid bloke and been a great coach over the years. I’ve worked closely with top academy coaches and the thoughts on here are not echoed within the game 👍

I reckon Foxy lady’s son got released by Beaglehole from the club when he was 8 years old and she’s just held a vendetta ever since lol

As @Chocolate Teapot has said a few times, Ben Nelson is some talent and an absolute beast for his age. Big future here.

I still remember when people said the same about George Taft because he was massive and a beast for his age. That one didn’t quite work out lol let’s hope for better for Ben.

KDH it's just 1year  and 4 months younger than tielmans  and it's far behind  tielmans  ; for me  they took to long to send him on loan
