Jesus that Palmer looks some player.

God help us though, absolutely miles away from Man City and we're picking up players released by Watford lol

Good to see the link between first team and Leicester team though, playing with 3 cbs and still conceding from 40 yard through balls.

Palmer played about 75 minutes against us in the Community Shield as well

It not about bring every player though to the first team, some are just cheap squad fillers to make up the numbers

What's that kit clash?

Was thinking of taking my boy to watch the u23s next time there's a game in the school holidays but I don't think it would endear him to watching us based on the last few results

Kits were ridiculous. I know Leicester had dark shorts but really???

Drives me mad this! We play such a high backline considering how slow our defenders are.  It happened on a regular occurrence last season, that jarred bowen one still haunts me

Our recruitment was and still is an absolute disgrace in the academy.

That seems like a poor model for me, every player we bring in we should be aiming to develop for the first team or want to improve them to a point where we can sell them on for profit. That's a really poor and lazy attitude if that is how we're operating.

Oh course that the aim but we are never going to have a squad of youth players were every player is going to be of the level of PL.

Since we have been back in the PL we have brought thought Chilwell, Barnes, Thomas, Choudhury and KDH, that's pretty decent.

7 years and 5 players playing in the top 2 divisions. That's some record.

I suppose Iverson counts as well, one of our better academy signings by the looks of it.

Let's be fair, we've had a few proper corkers come through and the rest has been Beaglehole having an easy time filling his squad with stronger players in their early 20s who could bully academy players. The sooner we move on as a club and look to sign quality young players from around the world, the sooner we'll see benefits from it in the transfer market. Getting £8 million for Sowah is a great example of how the academy should be working on a more consisten basis.

....just looking at the highlights, we either opt to press or we sit back.....choosing to do neither just allows you to just get passed around!!!

We were setup perfectly to accommodate the way they want to play, we either try to learn and adjust to different structures when it is needed or we just go out on the pitch and run around.

My concern is that those group of players ALL came through at the same time when we had a really good group of coaches from U13-U16 level.....and NONE of those coaches are with us any more.

Unless we have found coaches of similar quality to replace them, we may need to be more reliant on our recruitment and signing good quality players age 16+ to find the next group to progress through to the first team...!

Trust me, the coaching set up and staff now are far better than previously.

A certain someone's promotion has helped the academy. It's a blip, some good talent on the way, they just need time to develop.

KDH only broke through last year and is going to be absolutely quality.

All of them have been heavily criticised or even dismissed by many on here. Choudhury has been hammered many times. If we lose they are often first in the firing line. I sometimes think that our academy graduates are judged by a higher standard which is very unfair.

I do hope you're right.....but im assuming you're referring to Beaglehole being "moved out of the way"?

While he undoubtedly stifled the development of many technically gifted players, it is the development from the U13-U16 phase that i was referring to as Chilwell, Barnes and KDH all benefitted enormously from their coaching in those years....and they all testify to the great coaches they had during those years.
