The Life Appreciation Thread

I love the connected world. I can jump on a plane and in a matter of hours be taking in a different culture, struggling to speak a different language, browsing shops with different items and eating in resaurants like I've never seen before

 

Likewise, when I'm at home, I can watch events happening pretty much anywhere in the world in a way that just hasn't been possible in any other time.

 

I can't wait for travel to open up again though. I'm the weirdo who's excited to be at the airport.

Similar to the above, that science and technology has advanced to the point that human life is, broadly speaking, more comfortable and longer for a greater proportion of the human population than it has been at any point in history.

 

I'll be the first to point out that progress has been slow, isn't being made in enough ways and there's always the risk of backsliding, but it is happening.

I constantly look for the small moments which make me smile.

I'm grateful for what I have and don't obsess much over the things I don't have or can't control.

I've learned that life is short, none of us make it out alive so we have to enjoy the ride.

Football-wise, this is the best period in our history and while things frustrate (the top four mess-ups for example, not that we'll likely remember them in 20 years time) I focus less on that and more on the title, the FA Cup, disrupting the big boys etc.

A positive mindset helps me function and keeps me happy.

I appreciate life and the good people within it.

I’ll be at Centre Parcs with all the family to celebrate my parents 50th wedding anniversary so can’t make Wembley unfortunately mate

I'm VERY lucky.

Got a great wife and two fantastic kids aged 13 n 8 who make it all worth while.

Got no financial worries as I live to my means and dont show off.

Jobs pretty decent even if it dont subscribe to the " my job is amazing and pays fantastically" ethos everyone seems to aspire to.

Even though I had major shoulder surgery  a couple of years ago I'm.in good health for a 50 year old asian.

Think of the positives and mostly they outweight the negatives.

To be fair I do like seeing them flying around my garden.

 

When I was in Cambodia we went to a cave in a place called Battambang, Google it it’s absolutely insane. Every night millions of bats fly out towards the city.

Cheap UK based holdidays with the extended family, especially when we've seen very little of each other for months and months. Nice to just sit around a table playing card games and the like.

I was out cycling when we had that thunderstorm on Wednesday evening. I managed to find some shelter by some trees (I know; not necessarily a good idea with lightening around). I was there, staying reasonably dry, with the rain absolutely hammering it down, flashes of lightening; cracks of thunder and all the general sights and sounds that brings

 

I was loving it.

 

Afterwards, I carried on to Bradgate Park where I had the place virtually to myself.

 

As I went though the park, to the left there was the thick dark storm clouds I had just experienced, still showing bolts of lightening and to my right, the sun getting quite low in the sky sitting amongst just a few white fluffy clouds.

 

Looking to my left again, a rainbow had appeared. Then, in front of me, about 10 deer, young and old, crossed the path just feet from me.

 

Absolutely, bloody wonderful 90 minutes out on my bike that will live long in the memory.

I appreciate the fact that all my limbs and senses are working well.

I appreciate the fact that I don't have any diseases that cause me pain or disability.

I appreciate the fact that my loved ones are not far away and are in good health.

I appreciate the fact that when I look at my window, there is no war or violence.

I appreciate the fact that I have some money in my pocket, food in my cupboard and a roof over my head.

 

Above all I appreciate the fact that all of these things could change tomorrow, so I make the most of them today.

To think i can click on pornhub and watch from 30+ categories is insane. The internet and pornhub are great inventions lol.

 

On another serious note i am just appreciative to be alive, to have a fantastic and healthy wife, kids (8 and 6 years old), inlaws and of course my dad, bros and their families.

 

I appreciate our owners for everything they have brought/done for the club.

I appreciate foxestalk for being a fantastic place to discuss football, pedantry, lame jokes and inflatable dinosaurs.
