Lequipe is reporting Fofana is out for 3-5 months, so Fofana is going to be registered in the squad at least in January if not now, meaning whoever we sign will replace Amartey or Praet in the 25 man squad, and that assumes we ditch Benkovic also. 
 

Maybe we will go for a 6 month loan deal.

Does fofana need to be registered or would he be fine not being registered with being under 21

You are right. For the premier league Fofana still qualifies as B list, but not in European competition. I think. See:

It is the community shield not a PL game. What do we lose giving the guy we own a chance to play. Yes it would be nice to win the shield but i don't think Benkovic would be the sole reason that we lose. Maybe he shows what he is capable off.

Absolutely correct. Why can't it happen with Benkovic. It was BR who loved playing him when in loan at Celtic. Why can't he get that out of him here . Kelichi is the perfect example of a player turnaround. This game and our need is the perfect time to get him to find that form.

That break seems so bad could be much longer than 6 months to be back in game shape.

Ok from today’s news it’s obvious we are trying. If we can get one in next week who preferably doesn’t have to quarantine we can probably be less affected for the start of the season games. Benko could do a job against wolves I’m sure.

True. And we know how accurate Brendan's injury length estimations usually are.

 

I may have spoken too soon, but still, the early reports could have been much, much worse.

I have this strange feeling he's going to try with Benkovic tomorrow and if he plays well we won't get anybody, would that surprise you?

Given Benkovic's injury woes over the last couple seasons, that would be high risk IMO.

Hoping we'll look to get in 2 defenders, one relatively cheap, the other on loan with either an option or obligation to buy.

I think Benkovic will start tomorrow but we will be getting someone in no matter what because of Evans ongoing issue too. 

Hope Benko puts a performance in. Huge test for him but if he grabs this opportunity, he could have a future here.

Probably been said, Cahill, Phil Jones given Evans will be back at some point, otherwise Wilf did OK at the back from memory, with Soumare and Youri in centre mid....at the very least it buys us time...

Having watched Benko and Nelson in the friendlies both did better than OK.. 

.it is crap but just the sort of thing we rise up to....c'mon

Ndidi may be our best option but for me the loss of him from midfield just doesn’t make it worth it. I’d rather have an inferior player (armartey, benkovic) in there and have Wilf in his natural position than shove Wilf there and weaken our midfield. X
