Not sure - no one seemed to ask Pep anything about the game at the prezzer - it was all about Grealish, Kane and Messi.

Probably not the worst idea going by the ticket sales. I know Wembley is iconic but it is set to be half-full.

Grealish lifting a trophy at Villa Park but not for villa. Can you imagine the piss being boiled.

You're probably right but what an utter waste of Ndidi and wouldn't bode well for the season. Why not try Benkovic or Armarty with Soyuncu to give them confidence and see how they perform? It's an absolutely meaningless match compared to the start of the season. A midfield of Ndidi, Tielemans and Soumare is well capable of protecting one potentially suspect central defender. Ndidi is little better there in any case and you'd conspire to weaken your midfield as well at the same time.

 

Even if we get a new signing, it's perhaps going to be a while before Evans is back so the more game time and experience Benkovic and Armarty get the better in case Soyuncu gets injured or fatigued.

I'd give Benkovic a try personally but you just know he'll jump at the chance to put Ndidi in at CB.

You do lose all that Wilf offers in the middle if you drop him back to centre half, but Soumare offers a huge upgrade to Mendy in terms of his replacement.

 

Wilf at CB and Soumare at CM makes us much more dynamic as an attacking outfit too, as it's an extra player who can protect the ball well and make those line breaking passes which is not Wilf's strong suit.

 

Whether or not that's the approach we should be taking v Man City is up for debate, but I feel much more comfortable dropping Wilf back this season than I did last.

 

I'm yet to see anything of Benkovic that has particularly convinced me and it's a massive ask to chuck Nelson in at this stage in his development.

It's one way to get Ndidi, Soumare, and Tielemans on the same team sheet without dropping losing anyone from the front line ..  I would have preferred sneaking a 12th player on the pitch to losing Fofana, though.
