I'm a Sunderland fan and have been keeping an eye on the development of your stadium

Is your fanbase big enough to sustain 40,000 long term? I ask this because we expanded the Stadium of light to 48,000, which we can fill if we're top 8 but obviously that's not been the case. A lot of our fans wishes it stayed at 42,000 because it means a lot less empty seats.

Is there a huge demand for tickets? Would you sell out if you became an average bottom half side in the future for example?

Best of luck for the season

Considering we’re the only football team within a 30mile ish radius, yes we will fill it comfortably.

Plus everyone other Midlands team bar Villa are dog, so I’m finding a lot of kids wanting to support Leicester now, I’ve got family who are forest fans, but are now going to Leicester games due to their kids wanting to be Leicester fans.

In terms of sustainability, if you go down naturally the attendances will drop, we’ve been there before, down to the depths of league one.

But in short the answer is yes, we could probably comfortably fill a 50 or 60k stadium.

We have been completely sold out of season tickets for maybe 7 or so years now. There is huge demand just for them. I'm pretty sure we would sell out the extra capacity just with season tickets. If we were to fall to lower divisions that is anyones guess but I think the fan base has expanded a lot since we were last in the championship. The key is to build a bigger stadium so that the 'new' fans can actually attend games as that should ensure their long term support/attendance.

I think there is quite a long members list that would snap up any season tickets should they become available

I think the lowest amount of points I saw someone get a season ticket with this year is 38, will be a lot of people on lower than that which would want one

I think it’s a bet naive to answer with a blanket ‘yes we will’ when tickets for Burnley were available the day before I believe.

For most games we will sell out, the big games easily but for the smaller teams I don’t think we will.

I think the tickets were only available late on as Burnley couldn't sell their allocation. The additional M blocks for City fans looked rammed to me.

Fair enough, add an extra 8k seats in the mix though and do you think that game sells out?

I think it would if it was marketed correctly. A chunk of those 8,000 will be new season ticket holders and the remainder would shift to Members and occasionals if enough notice is given.

I think the answer to your question is in you question. We will only sell out at 40,000 if we sustain success. What we do know is that our owners are fantastic and proved to be shrewd business people. We’re in good hands, and any risks taken are well calculated.

I am one of many who have been waiting for the chance of a season ticket. Really is a hassle getting a ticket and my priority points for both home and away are ridiculously low considering the number of games I've seen and the additional costs.

Also our catchment area has increased.  I know 2 friends from Nottingham that went to their first Leicester game last Saturday.

I have a derby fan who is always asking to come along to watch Leicester.

As long as we stay in the premier we will have no problem filling 42k.

I thought we'd done really well to flog it to 31,650 on Saturday.

In the West Midlands increasingly see Leicester shirts when working in places like Tamworth

...wasn't it because Burnley did not sell all their allocated tickets and therefore we had to adjust the seating plan to accommodate the Leicester supporters who took up the option to buy those tickets!!!

Yep someone has posted above but I pose the same question, do you think we sell out 40k for the likes of burnley week in week out?

I'm not sure it's actually about selling out every week to be honest. There will be games that are less attractive to walk ups and will have empty seats, that's just a fact. The point is that, with clubs in close proximity to us struggling for some time now, we have a real opportunity to firmly establish ourselves as the biggest club in the East Midlands and a stadium expansion is probably required to do that.

As others have pointed out, kids from traditional Forest/Derby support bases are now keen to support Leicester because of our success. That's great, but we'll lose that support if we can't get them in on a regular basis to watch us play. Kids are fickle and will eventually gravitate towards the club where they can get tickets regularly to watch - we need that extra space to provide that.

Additionally, we might not have shifted 8k more tickets on Saturday, but not all of that extra 8k will be single match tickets. The demand is surely there for an extra 3-4k season tickets, which an expansion will give us. Suddenly then you're not leaving too many seats to fill.

In answer to the original question. 40K is sustainable whilst we remain in the Premiership and who knows what the future holds.

The city of Leicester and the county of Leicestershire has a population just under 700K, however, it's not until relegation that support dwindles away you only have to see that the last time we were in the Championship and, God forbid, League 1.

I think we could if a good amount of the additional seats are season tickets

Also I don’t think the club has put a single game on actual general sale yet

Club has never had to run like a kids deal on games like that either

Plenty of ways they could flog loads of tickets for games like this

...certainly not for Burnley, but you could apply that to every other team in the league, even farcicallly Burnley as well!!!

Their style of play will  not persuade too many fans to sit through a game.

As has been stated previously, just having the extra capacity allows for spur of the moment ticket purchases and a family or small contingent sitting alongside each other is a great appeal.

No but i'd be more than happy to sell 34/35k for the less attractive games . Add to that offers, cheap tickets and giveaways . We could maybe push that to 37k .

I would say we have a catchment of well over a Million .

We sold 30k for a game against Gillingham in league 1

. Once the new stand is paid for  you lose more money by not having enough seats .

Many of the responses here don't answer the op's question, ie what would happen if we dropped off or were relegated?  Would we sell 40k?  I don't know, but if we want to grow as a club it is a calculated gamble.  40k will easily sell out as a top half PL club and it allows us to take the next step in trying to sustain our success and in trying to become a bigger club.  A virtuous circle.

Bad times will come as they come to all clubs, such is the nature of football and we will probably be left with empty seats but a bigger stadium will allow us to capitalise on the good times.

If Derby go under there will be a whole new city of a fans to be grabbed.

They'd have to be pretty shit fans to go from Derby to an East Midlands "rival"

Not the kind of vocal support the KP needs.
