No I didn’t and fair play to those who did.
Reading up and knowing a bit on this sort of stuff was one of the reason I didn’t.

Read some daft stuff on here last night regarding the treatment of the fans. Stuff like saying it was to do with Brexit ffs.

Again it doesn't make it right but it was fairly well known what was going to happen with those buses.

Exactly this. It was never going to be a normal trip and certainly those readin up on this thread here would have known what to expect. As you say, it doesn't make it right but the club have nothing to do with this. It is the Italian authorities who are being over the top. Unfortunately, this happens to every away team and nothing gets done.

I hope everyone stayed safe, We had a bit of a daft moment at the docks after the game.

Got dropped off by the coach and we expected (probably naively) there to be plenty of taxis so did no research.

We flagged down a few cabs that either drove off or were booked by other people so were stood on the main road in pouring rain. That’s when I noticed a car full of lads dressed in black spot us and every single one of them were starring at us and they appeared to make a last minute decision to change direction in the car.

Luckily we got in a cab a few minutes later otherwise I’m pretty sure they were coming back.

Any news on anything else? I’ve heard a rumour but don’t want to shit stir.

Apparently one fan got stabbed in the arse- heard this from a few blokes I know.

Few stitches required and he actually made it to the game before the coaches 😂

If this was aimed at my remark last night for RE Voting Leave then I stand by what I said

The general fcuk about treatment constantly dished out by police in countries such as France, Spain and Italy mean I didn’t want to be a part of their Union.

I wasn’t saying that their treatment of us was to do with Brexit 😂

I’m saying that their archaic behaviour was a reason I voted Leave.

Potentially an odd thing to say in many respects, but having done England away for over a decade or so, it starts to gripe on you. A lot

What the actual **** is wrong with these ultras or whatever they call themselves. Fisty cuffs or a scrap out the way I understand, but stabbing people?

The place sounds like an absolute shithole full of poor scummers.

I’d heard similar.

I respect the honesty of this comment. No matter what certain sections of society may say we are unique. We are very close in behaviour to some parts of Europe: Britanny for example and cousins to Germanic, Celt and Scandinavian people but as far removed as can be from Latin, Slavic and Magyar.

So it is perfectly normal to be uneasy about the way different cultures behave.

Generalising I know, but I have travelled enough to have seen widespread behaviour changes literally the moment you cross a border. Albania into Serbia springs to mind!

Anyway...football.....!!

That's weird, Finnegan said there would be no trouble and everyone was overreacting!

A bit rough around the edges but I thought Naples was bloody excellent.

Heard of a couple of Leicester fans getting jumped and of course the stabbing, remove the football and the needless animosity and it's a wonderful place.

The bus was always gonna happen. All part of the experience. See you in Albania.

A City fan who works for talksport 2 has just been on. Bus took ages to get to the ground. At one point drove down a dead end. Pelting rain. Missed both our goals because they arrived so late. One hour in the stadium after the game ended. No toilet breaks.

Yuk.

Well I don’t want to turn a thread into a political one, but travelling so much as I have to these European countries with football really does open your eyes

They (majority of the public and the police) absolutely hate us. A great example was being left by the police to fend for ourselves in Marseilles in ‘16, the total lack of taxis after the Russia game, and the day before. The striking train drivers that left us in the shite too.

Well if a country has that much contempt for us, and who’s populous are so bone idle,  then I’d rather have as little to do with them as possible.

Things like last nights escort only reaffirm my stance

FWIW the best European country where we’ve been treated amazingly is Poland, closely followed by Portugal (Guimaraes)

If ever we played there again - unlikely - I'd consider walking.

Buy a Napoli hat for cover, don't walk in a large group, and get there 3-4 hours before kick-off.

A guy I was chatting to in the airport did this last night- took him an hour. Fair play

I had wondered if they'd even let you in if you walked up. Clearly they did.

Moot point of course, as we'll probably never play there again

Punishments are genuinely less. A few punches can quickly lead to a threat to a persons life.

A stab to the arse gets it over and done with as a ‘victor’ - in the arse is considered an embarrassment and won’t endanger life.

It’s largely cos of the city’s poverty that it’s that way. Along with being a port city if you believe that sort of thing.

It’s not solely English fans travelling abroad following their club what get this stick. So I don’t get the idea we are a special case or they hate ‘us’. The Naples coppers wait until their fans have ****ed off into the stadium before eventually getting the buses. They know they’d have no chance if it did kick off given it’s a racquet between themselves. The fact the Napoli ultras have only just called peace with the club and ended up with 7 arrests before a game against Lazio the other week means they probably weren’t quite as no tolerance as they can be the night before.

I’d say clubs from Northern Europe - Germany, Netherlands get more stick because of the numbers they take. Feyenoord for example have had bans from travelling places this year without reasoning. They’ve ended up making unofficial away ends. The German clubs get targeted constantly; Bayern in particular always have grief with the Spanish police.

Spain barely has active away support for example. Italy do but numbers ain’t massive. As a result their coppers are clueless when it comes to control. The French are useless, as proved by their own fans going nuts at the mo.

It’s funny you mention Guimaraes because a lot of fans hated the police that day as they caused crushes in the train station.

Why do some of the European public hate us? Because every Euro away attracts a percentage of dickheads who bowl up to the nearest square and show zero respect. If we turn this the other way, we only have to look how folk in Leicester collectively felt when Napoli’s lot started moodily walking around Leicester looking for something. For example in Madrid, Leicester were signing songs and acting idiotic in the equilvant of a country’s the Mall (a public area leading to a royal palace).

There are plenty on here surprised by the locals in Naples which suggests to me some of our fans weren’t solely there for a piss up and turned up in their city canned up from the flight.

That’s all very true and fair.

I mentioned Guimaraes as the locals there all came out and clapped the England fans walking to and from the stadium for the 3rd Place Playoff game

The football ‘treatment’ was only an example

You can look at how Barcelona’s police treated ‘their own’ during the riots a few years ago too.

There are so many examples of reasons which lead me to believe that the UK is a cut above the vast majority of EU countries

Anywat, I’ll stop now as this is going off track

Currently battling the traffic back home from Stansted after our flight was delayed almost an hour 😂

Leicester City to submit complaint to UEFA after Napoli clash
Many of the 600 travelling fans missed some of the game after the shuttle buses arrived to the stadium late.

Leicester City are to lodge a complaint to Uefa over the treatment of their fans in Naples.

Around 600 City supporters travelled to the Italian city for Thursday night’s Europa League clash, but many missed the part of the game because of issues with shuttle buses.

Italian authorities mandated that City supporters took one of three shuttle buses, organised by Naples police, to Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

But City supporters were taken the wrong way, and many missed the start of the game, with the third and final shuttle bus not arriving until half an hour into the fixture, after three goals had been scored.

City are understood to be extremely disappointed by the situation, especially given the lengths to which fans went to get to the game amid considerable Covid restrictions.

Given the treatment of fans, City are to submit a complaint with Uefa in the hope of at least an explanation for the events that led to supporters missing the match.

City only discovered the specific venue from which they could distribute tickets on the morning of the game, but managed to get them to fans by 4pm, nearly three hours before kick-off.

Still, the shuttle buses turned up too late, and then went wrong the way to the dismay of City supporters on board.

After City’s defeat to Napoli, the players and staff went over to applaud those who had travelled, with Brendan Rodgers showing sympathy to those that had made the effort to get to Naples, where they had not only negotiated Covid restrictions and the debacle over shuttle buses, but travel costs and thunderstorms.

“It was hard enough for us to get to here, with how we travelled and the weather and everything,” Rodgers said.

“For them to be here, I’m absolutely devastated for them.

“They have followed us in Europe and given us great support. For us to not to get the result tonight for them, that’s hard for us.”

Did the corporate attendees have to go without toilets, food or drink?

The people who make money from this are taking the ****ing piss out of real fans.

I seriously don't know why we still do it.

Treated like shit over and over again.
