We’re genuinely kidding ourselves if we think that we’ve been okay. This was just another naff performance in a long list of naff performances.

A lot needs to be worked on, we’re a million miles away from where we need to be.

Let's be honest, Fofana being out is NOT an excuse for the shit shower we are at the moment.

Defence is a joke especially at set pieces. The midfield is being set up to fail with the formations and tactics (whatever they are) and we lack creativity upfront. I am not sure Rodgers actually knows what to do now.

The Liverpool fans warned us, he hasn't a clue when it goes wrong. He thought he would use us as a stepping stone . But all it has done is alert the top clubs to his limitations as a manager. The ones we are seeing now have been foretold.

He doesn’t want to finish his career at Leicester. Given he’s 35/36 that implies he wants to leave soon

Yeah name me a champions league regular club who would put up with his godawful distribution and inability to command his area? He's getting ambition confused with ability.

Crowd did my head in today.

It’s so annoying to heat the collective sigh when a pass forward is misplaced or cut out and then another collective sigh when a safe pass is made the next time - what the fook do people expect the player to do????

why not clap the attempt to make a forward pass because that will encourage it to be done the next time !

I didn't think we were too bad given the performance but the bashing of the clappers in time to the countdown video before the game was so odd and unnecessary. It looked like a programming lol

Good job it doesn't happen very often ah?

I'm sure this is next on Rodgers excuses or blame game as to why it doesn't happen very often. Bloody knuckle dragging fans.

Look at that face from Youri. Completely in with it. Just like me and you

If only the same could be said to half of the squad liking ****ing Chilwell’s social media posts

Is that his lad and can he play in defence? Realistically looking for him to defend corners.

The token substitutions at half-time brought slightly more threat but it wasn't difficult. What got to me was the lack of anything different being attempted.

Why not switch Castagne to the right where he looks most effective? Even chucking Soyuncu up front and playing dinosaur football to see if he'd create confusion, win some flick-ons maybe? But no, we stick to the plan of passing it around across the defence, back to the keeper, no movement and no momentum. It looked so robotic.

Defending corners -

the first goal was so poor from our perspective and well crafted from theirs

they blocked off wilf so that he couldn’t squeeze rudiger behind Castagne (one in front, one behind). It’s mad that they found it so simple to do that. How can we be so naive that we had no one to block off a player who was standing on our goal line from wandering back into the play

they had their other dangerous players at the back post which dragged cags and Jonny out of the live area.

teams will actively over prepare for corners as we are so suspect. Claudio won’t miss that re next weekend  - I expect Watford may spend a whole session on it this week as it’s so likely to yield success.

Brendan would never do that whatever the circumstances…

Part of the problem is I don’t think we have ever looked particularly convincing with a back 5, yet we still see it even though we can now field a pretty good back 4 with a defensive midfielder shielding the CBs. I don’t know why we keep playing the 352/343 systems. It’s not making us any less fragile defensively. Our defenders and wing backs look clueless.

I questioned our lack of analysis on opposition against Arsenal. Today was a weird hybrid where we were so worried about Chelsea’s wing backs that our formation was adapted to do that.

But failed to acknowledge their very good central midfield players and/or how Burnley/Brentford’s direct style got success v Chelsea.

His tweak at half time did very little except put on players who prefer to go centrally rather than wide. Still didn’t work as Maddison’s rather lazy positional sense allowed their centre back to progress and play a pass twenty five yards ip the pitch.

Those subs still didn’t give us a chance to win second ball/contact further up the pitch and their centre midfield and Silva still had time on their hands

And it isn't helping his cause. It looked like we had no urgency to get back in the game.

By the way wasn’t Chelsea’s support shit for such a cakewalk?

I got the sense that the win was just so easy it took the edge off their away end because there was no sense of jeopardy at all. It felt like many of the performances in Claudio's disastrous second season tbh.

First rule of football for me is keeping the ball out of your own net. Fixing whatever is ailing this club needs to start there. It's not just the backline. The midfield is culpable as well.

Whatever cohesion they had has been eliminated between injuries and new players. Maybe the congested holiday schedule isn't the worst thing though. It might allow the squad to develop some rhythm.

Still it's painful to watch them dominated by Chelsea in this manner. As recently as last season, the clubs were pretty close. Not anymore.

I wonder if rodgers flirting with united has upset the dressing room

didnt look right today

Possibly. The better news is the situation should finally be coming to a head this week. Ole won't be the manager there by Monday.
