Really grinds my gears when journos ask players closed questions (this applies to all sports tbf)

Not sure who this Ally is on BT interviewing Bairstowe, but questions such as "Do you feel the team were underprepared?" or "Did you have a difficult debrief after the last test?" are just shite. If I was a player I'd just give her a "Yes" or "No" answer to show what a crap question it is. Matt Smith in the studio is just as bad, making statements that aren't questions.

If you want to get players/pundits really talking and properly exploring their thinking, ask them "What...?" or "How...?" questions. It ain't hard.

Totally agree. Players must dread being told ‘It’s your turn Jonny, you know the drill, don’t get annoyed at the stupid questions’

Some journalists are stealing living.
The players are coached how to deal with the press. I’m not sure the press are coached how to carry out a questionnaire scenario.

Looks a green track ! Toss so important. Lose it & we will struggle yet again.

English conditions, Jimmy must be praying !

Have you ever seen an Aussie wicket as green as this ?

we might struggle to make three figures !

I’m trying to remain positive, but to quote Edmund Blackadder,

‘We’re in the stickiest situation since Sticky the stick insect got stuck on a sticky bun !’

Hameed has a fc average of 32, Crawley 31 and Malian 38. You’ve got Hasan Azad at county who averages 40, yet can’t even get in the lions team, I’m sure there’s equally quality openers at other unfashionable teams. When are England actually going to look for them?

I think you answered your own question. Leics is an unfashionable county.

lf he moves, he probably gets a chance. It’s wrong, but cricket still has selection issues.

I know this might be blasphemy on here but Marnus is kinda likeable really isn't he. Seems like a lovely guy.

If you're allowed to like any aussie it's got to be him

Have you watched The Test on Amazon? Fantastic watch and almost made me like some of the Aussies.

"Since the start of the 2020 English summer Joe Root has come to the crease 36 times in Tests and 21 times he has come in with the score under 30. Only four times has he come in with a score over 75."

There we go, game over.

Root playing a ****ing ridiculous shot and shitting away what looked like being a good innings.

If he cant be ****ed then neither can I.

Azad had an awful 2021 though didn't he so it instantly gives them an extra excuse. Burns shouldn't go to the West Indies, I've said I'd go with Crawley and Hameed but the issue then is they probably get decent scores over there to paper over the cracks. Ideally we should start over, bring Sam Robson back with an uncapped opener.
