This needs to be the nadir after which we completely change our approach to test cricket, as we did to one day cricket after being knocked out of the 2015 World Cup by Bangladesh.

As much as putting the whole thing into the shredder and starting again is tempting right now, I'm struggling to see what good it might do, unless people are interested in the idea of the Test side being shit for a very, very long time while it rebuilds.

 

Mind you, the counterargument to that would be that it could hardly be worse than it is now, which I can't really argue against.

It's like we're back in the mid nineties or something. It's not the losing, although that's not great, it's the sheer gulf in class between a slightly better than average team and this England team.
