.. you can understand the reasons why games are cancelled!!!

As a family there are many avenues in which you can come into contact with the virus and as a team sport you only need one to spread it to 7 people.

No mask on show, no doubt LFT done prior to the competition on the night, does not protect you.

Hopefully they come back free of any infection but you can see why this virus continues to run amok.

I've just done three LFT over 4 days to get a positive even though I was ill and knew what it was.

The LFT are shite and mean nothing.

..  I  do not think Covid cares who becomes infected!!!

They weren't mingling with the mass crowds as talk sport were suggesting. You'd come into more contact with people doing the weekly food shop or last minute Christmas shopping for the mrs

Give it a rest, they're hardly Benjamin Mendy.

... a bit of a leap!!!

In this case not exactly  apples and apples.

People choose to exert their right to do whatever they want, within the law. If they choose to socialise in a crowded area, despite being in the field of sport that has been riven by infection, they have to bear any fallout which may occur.

Let's hope it doesn't come to anything!!!

It was a tongue in cheek comment.

In fairness, there's no difference in four lads going to watch the darts than there was in me and my step-son going to the Etihad on Boxing Day.

Why does it matter that they're professional footballers?

I could have caught Covid at the match and passed it on to my colleagues and shut down the business for 10 days.

I did get pinged on the app from Boxing Day. I don't have to isolate as I'm triple jabbed and daily tests have shown negative results.

That vile paper can do one! Has anyone seen the amount of companies they sell your data to? Just look at the cookies and then click on the vendor tab. It's ludicrous. They don't even have a 'reject all' button so you have to click reject on all of them individually if you really want to read their crap they spew. I saw the title of their bit on this and it made my blood boil. Horrid paper and anyone that reads that's crap can do one in my opinion.

So what other professions should be banned from attending events like this?

All professional sports people?

Doctors?

Nurses?

Teachers?

People who work in big offices?

....the reason that I  chose football was the closure of training grounds around the country and the subsequent match cancellations, which we will now have to fit in somewhere down the line!!!

What do you suggest then? Masks aren't 100%, vaccines aren't 100%, vaccine passport isn't 100%, having no social contact isn't 100%. It's a virus, it runs amok regardless of the measures you take, we still had loads of cases (albeit less) when we were locked down for weeks.

My mum tested positive a couple of days ago and she hadn't left the house previously for 7/8 days.

So that's more important than say doctors going on a night out and maybe getting covid and letting patients down? People have to live their lives, regardless of if it's a footballer, a doctor or a window cleaner (nothing against window cleaners) :D

....I  can only speculate that having isolated, she would have caught the virus from another member of her household!!!

There are measures the Government has brought out guidelines, and strict adherence to the rules would have alleviated a lot of the problems that  we witnessed prior to the first lockdown.

We are all relying on each other  to do the right thing, so long as you are doing that, it is really all you can do.

Can catch it from a delivery driver, postman etc.

You literally can't stop the virus, we need people to leave the house in order for society to function, which means the virus will spread.

Why is it ok for the normal public to attend darts but not footballers? Should they never have a life again incase they catch COVID? I can't even believe there's genuinely people saying they shouldn't be attending social events, people are bonkers.

....in this scenario I am referring to football as they are football players!!!

We do not know of parties or meet ups of doctors or any other profession that comes into contact on a one to one basis with the general public.

I suspect the closures of training grounds stems from a gathering of players irrespective of where they congregate.

She might have been uno, with some of the dodgy clobber she used to dress me in, it'd make perfect sense if she was dressing him up.
