Can't stop looking at this list. An astonishing lack of value for money high risk high reward signings from Scandinavia, Japan, South America etc. I thought perhaps it's just our strategy (albeit we got Hermansen) but Glovers been the same at other clubs as well.

This has got to be a priority of ours as we try and right the wrongs of our mistakes and our current financial constraints.

If the club do consider changes to the likes of Rudkin, I hope Glover goes as well.

It’s a bit hit and miss. I should have put the value in as you’re right, some high profile, expensive flops amongst that list!

It's very miss. But even if it wasn't, it's the profile of player that concerns me. We simply have to move away from that and look for players below £10m/£15m at a push and look to develop and cash in. Likewise have the academy development as a main priority.

Glover's mandate at other clubs might differ to now but there's a concerning pattern to me. We need a change in ethos above him but then would expect a head of recruitment with a history of being successful in the markets I mention.

I think I did value in another thread. Might be glovers thread in the main forum. Feel free to copy 👍

frightening bits are his spend at Everton on obvious signings (they did well the season before/at a tournament) and the fact he worked for big Sam twice.

The man wreaks of agent backhanders.

I was looking at that list, and something that occured to me is that Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison are the only 2 decent strikers that hes found.

Richarlison was already in the Prem with Watford, so I'm not sure how much scouting needed to be done there.

Calvert-Lewin was a good deal to be fair at £1.5m. I'm ignoring Ings as he had been all over the league by that point, so he's not really been discovered by Glover.

Plenty of decent signings in there, particularly without the benefit of hindsight. Though ours is probably the worst list.

The bigger issue is the value of those players but it's hard to say that would have been his responsibility when there's a director above him who would do the dealings. Of course, if he was given free reign to do that, then yeah, that's shocking.

Sold Cannon, still no cash

I don't believe that, at the very least we've the Cannon profit which equates to a £15-20m transfer on a 5 year deal.

I also think there's a likelihood we need to sell in June regardless so the call is how much are they willing to spend in order to try and stay up and what needs to be raised in June.

This is bollocks.

We’ve not been able to do any business until we got players out. The squad was full…..

Top, Rudkin and the board are compulsive liars. Time for them to get in the bin.

How can they lie if they don’t speak?

Looking at the Maths I don't think we have a PSR issue if we say up, our worse year for losses 20/21 (-92m) drops out of the 3 year cycle.

But I think we will sell Hermansen regardless.

Yeah agreed.

Not his comments but his agents. The quotes that came direct from the player backed up what was reported by Percy and that he spoke with Cooper and LCFC several times and we were desperate to land him but think he was swayed by the lure of Roma. Things might be different now, especially if once again we make it clear how much we want to build our team around him. Facundo isn't ours.

I agree. We'll go back to the model of selling one star each year. Mads being the first in the new cycle.

If we go down then it'll be more . I wouldn't be against two good loans this season, just to fill the gaps.

‘We’ve got money to spend’, have we? We’re 29 days into january and havent bid for anyone. We arent buying anyone. We’ve been here many times before. They lied to Ruud when they appointed him

Exactly the type of profile of player we are in desperate need for tbf.

A winger/striker with pace, 1 vs 1 ability and ball-carrying ability 👍🏻

Pretty sure it would of been reported by now if we had put a transfer bid in for a player and it was rejected. I will eat my hat if we sign anyone that isnt a last minute panic loan i.e the Chalobah/Maitland Niles ilk from the other year

There would be little point in bringing anybody in at this stage who doesn’t immediately improve our starting 11 - ie, is of clear PL-standard. Unfortunately, players of that calibre are not going to be falling over themselves to join a relegation dog fight which carries a genuine risk of them becoming a Championship player in the summer. Hence our best chance of obtaining such players is through the loan market, which in our case has to be the overseas market as we already have two domestic loans (one of which has proved a complete waste). So realistically, we’re looking at two loans of PL-standard players from overseas who are currently out of favour at their current clubs. Not too many of those around, and the few there are will be in very high demand. This is not an easy market to do business in when you’re in our current position.

We thankfully missed out on Jonathan Ikone

Actually think this is the reality. We are at the end of the window. The Cannon deal was reported two weeks ago and look done early last week. The Choudhury deal has been on the table for a week. Any club which was going to be active would’ve had the leg work on their own deals done or at least in progress and not necessarily wait for the outgoing deals being done.

Yeah January is tough but our position is our position. The noise (or lack of) suggests this isn’t far off.

My bigger question is with the sale of Cannon, with the high spend in the summer and the likelihood of Hermansen leaving in the summer, why are we still struggling with PSR - there are so many problems.

If we can get a loan or two, great. Freshen it up, give the manager some backing. Give the players and fans a lift. I’d be incredibly surprised now if we do get anyone in.

Such a bizarre rumour. I can only imagine he was considered as he can cover various option across the front line. He’s never really hit potential.

It might be nothing to do with current PSR, although equally could be, it might be to do with not wanting to burden the squad for 3/4 years with more players another manager might not want.

The right loans could be sensible, low risk and players with a shop window to get a permanent move in the Prem while potentially keeping us up.

For me, at this stage it feels like we just need new faces in however that is structured to give this group another boost so we can push on and survive. Unfortunately our reality at the minute is purely around survival.
