Depends what division we are in surely? Iversen and Jakob both more than capable in the championship.

Iversen can't kick the ball. He can't be used when passing out from the back.

I'll go full cynical...

Mads has a low relegation release clause

Pep lost his head with Ortega last night so he's now pissed off both his goalkeepers.

They'll ship Ederson to Saudi this month

Cash in now for £40-50m

Iversen’s contract is up in the summer and I expect he will finally want to get away from us

I personally don't think there is anything wrong with Mads. I think he'll be sold this month and is being wrapped in cotton wool until then.

But who is coming in to be primarily a number 2 that is going to be much better than Jakob or iversen? I highly doubt we’d get much of an upgrade.

Of course, depends on who the club gets.

arsent we meant to have some class younger keepers in the ranks?

Mads will go i dont think anyone will say he wont so for me if we stay up we need a new number 1 if we go down Jakob will be fine as a number 1 and then promote a youth as his number 2.

Need to unearth another gem like we did with Mads really don’t we, and how realistic is that?

£5-10m bracket, either #1 while Mads is out, sits behind him until he inevitably leaves and then becomes the first choice.

What we absolutely shouldn’t do (so probably will) is look at someone with “experience” a la a Danny Ward profile of signing.

If we are even thinking about going down that route we deserve everything we get which will inevitably be another relegation and years of strife in the desolate hellhole of the football league.

The noise was we wanted 40m in the summer when Chelsea came sniffing, I assume we would want more now he is PL-proven.

I very much doubt he has a release clause

The longer the “injury” saga goes on I have to agree, unfortunately.

We don't do release clauses since Kante?

It's just the way Ruud said he was touch and go to play like 3/4 weeks ago but still hasn't featured. Ofcourse, it could have flared up again but usually we would have heard about that.

It just seems a little off...

Two seasons too late.

Suggests that neither Iverson or Ward (obvs) fill the manager with confidence in case of another injury.

Jacob is young and an injury away from us having either of the other two as options.

We don't need (cos we can't get) a Mads replacement.  Stol goes number 1 and use the Mads cash on fixing that back line.

Of course Mads could be a Nick Pope and this isn't anything more than an injury, and he's just one of those keepers that can't stay fit.

Keylor Navas is still without a club (Gremio interested) and would be good filler til the end of the season.

Jakob is fine imo.

Stick with the keepers we have now, we will have Mads and Jakub in the championship under a transfer embargo, with the former leaving in the summer

Nah he’s our best player and staying up is well documented as being absolutely vital for us. No chance we pull a stunt like that, once he’s fit he’ll play and then be off in the summer.

Ward and Iversen are out of contract in the summer.

Mads likely to be sold, I'd be worried if we weren't in the market.

Goalkeeper like striker is never a position where fine will do.

And if we get relegated we’re likely under an embargo.

Iversen is plenty good enough as a back up. Yes, he's awful with his feet but if it makes sacrificing the ability to play out from the back in order to have a very dependable shot stopper, then that's a sacrifice you make.

I understand what you're saying but the reality is you cant do that. If you're implementing a style every day in training, to then switch that style again mid-season due to an injury will cause all sorts of confusion - players will have to adjust positions, the ball goes where it is not meant to - its asking for errors. We are already prone to errors this season and it can create chaos.

You want a keeper who can first keep but composure on the ball is now of paramount importance. It just is.

Jakub is only 5 months younger than Mads. It's just we keep our youth players in the u21s until they are halfway to retirement so most don't realise.

Fair point but he is an injury away at the moment from Ward/iverson being our keeper. Neither who I think are good enough.
